Mattel Creations newest designer art toy drops today, and it is this insane (and huge) Masters of the Universe Skeletor Shogun Masters Figure! Straight out of Snake Mountain, Skeletor is taking his conflict with He-Man to new heights – by accessing technology from another Mattel world and building his very own Shogun Warrior mech. Now, with wheels on his feet, a rocket-powered fist, a missile-firing staff, and towering at just under two feet tall, this Skeletor figure is emitting some major retro Shogun vibes and setting up his hostile takeover of Eternia.
Nothing can stop this big bad behemoth from acquiring the powers of Greyskull and ruling the universe… except perhaps an equally outsized He-Man, which we all know doesn’t exist… Or does it? The Blot loves how Skeletor’s Havoc Staff shoots spring-loaded missiles from the ram skull’s mouth. And thankfully Mattel Creations stayed true to the classic giant Shogun Warrior robot figures of the ’70s by including a right hand that can actually shoot and wheels on the figure’s feet.
Because Mattel was one of the first to introduce U.S. children to Japanese toys with the Shogun Warrior figures and also the pioneers who created MOTU, a Shogun Skeletor is the perfect pairing of two iconic toy lines. And a totally rad way to relive the decade when these toys were created – the awesome ‘80s!
The Masters of the Universe Skeletor Shogun Masters Mech Figure by Mattel Creations stands 23.5” tall and will go on sale 12pm ET today, Friday, April 23rd, at MattelCreations.com. While no price has been stated yet, the rumor flying around the internet is this release will retail for around $300-380 each. I was pretty excited to pick up this new figure to go with my Super7 Super Shogun Figures, but at that price I'll have to pass. Here's hoping that price isn't accurate!
