Superplastic recently announced it is teaming up with British band / virtual act, Gorillaz, to release a brand new vinyl art figure of the band’s lead singer, 2D! This announcement seriously blew The Blot’s mind! I love when news like this comes out of nowhere. The collaboration is the first Gorillaz toy of its kind in over ten years since Gorillaz co-creator Jamie Hewlett first worked with Superplastic founder Budnitz on the iconic vinyl Gorillaz toys back in 2005.
Superplastic founder Paul Budnitz said, “Gorillaz is a massive inspiration, and I’m incredibly thrilled to be working with Jamie on toys again.” Based on artist Jamie Hewlett’s iconic Gorillaz frontman 2D, this giant 12” toy features two-tone shoes, fat mic, and battery-powered glowing LED eyes. Yes, it has real glowing eyes! Superplastic is sparing no expense in the production of their first – but hopefully not last – Gorillaz figure.
The Gorillaz 2D Vinyl Art Figure by Superplastic is 12” tall, made of soft vinyl, and comes in a beautiful collector’s box. It even includes a battery! Fans can order this awesome new figure now at Superplastic.co for $80.
