The Blot is a huge fan of Michael Crichton and Chip Kidd, so I was blown away by this announcement from our friends at Bottleneck Gallery and Vice Press. They’ve teamed up with designer Chip Kidd and Justin Ishmael to release a screen printed letterpress deluxe hybrid poster with a blind emboss that comes actually signed and numbered by Kidd himself!
As BNG explained, “The Jurassic Park logo is one of the most recognizable images in not only film, but in culture. It has been endlessly spoofed, homage, honored and stolen and become the mark of a franchise with 5 films and counting. This image, specifically the Tyrannosaurus Rex skeleton, was illustrated by the great designer Chip Kidd. Originally, it was the book cover and adapted by Universal to be the logo when the book was optioned and turned into a movie by Steven Spielberg. It went onto become the logo for the film and the actual logo for the park itself.”
Jurassic Park by Chip Kidd is a 13”x10” signed, numbered and embossed letterpress print with a screen printed layer. The White Paper Edition and Red Paper Edition are each limited to 200 pieces and will retail for $50 (or as a set for $95). Both colorways will go on sale at 12pm EDT today, Thursday, September 5th, at Bottleneckgallery.com.
