Check out this awesome The Simpsons inspired sculpture “Elevate” by Filipinoo-American visual artist Louis De Guzman! The Chicago based artist is taking his emerging art career in a new direction by debuting his first vinyl figure exclusively at ComplexCon 2018. Based off of his previous print release, Elevate, De Guzman presents a sculpture designed in his signature geometric abstraction style depicting a familiar pop icon – Bart Simpson. This super intricate 8” figure can be purchased at ComplexCon booth J10 this weekend for $275. For those unable to attend the convention, the sculpture will also be for sale online via LouisDeGuzman.com in mid-November.
As Guzman explains, “The idea, concept of sculpture and abstract dimensional form has always been on the agenda. To evolve my personal body of work from 2 dimensional intricate line work and pattern sequenced shapes into something more tangible that my audience can examine and study. I want the view to be able to view it from all angles and see every little detail. I’m trying to bring something unfamiliar to a familiar space and ultimately evoke emotion and personal attachment.”
