As I’ve mentioned on The Blot Says a few times over the years, my very first Kidrobot vinyl figure was their Madvillain release back in 2007. It was also one of the very first vinyl figures I ever blogged about almost 10 years ago. To this day KR’s Madvillain figure is still one of my all time favorite pieces in my collection. So I was really excited to learn that the same creative team behind that figure, including illustrator/animator/director of “All Caps” James Reitano, were teaming up with hip-hop legend MF Doom and Madlib Invazion on an all new Madvillain figure!!!
This awesome 2016 version of the Madvillain vinyl figure stands 8” tall and is a whopping 8” deep. The Madvillain’s gold case accessory is removable, and the case itself opens for storage of, well, whatever you can fit in there. It comes packaged in a custom box designed by Reitano that can be disassembled as a diorama for the figure. But that’s not all! Each figure also includes an exclusive Avalanche 7” vinyl record single by Madlib and MF Doom.
Collectors can purchase this brand new Madvillain vinyl figure now at the Rappcats online store for $85 (it will ship in February 2017). The figure was designed and sculpted by Charlie Becker, and manufactured by Blitzway (the South Korean toy manufacturer who manufactured the J Dilla figures) on behalf of Madlib Invazion.
