Earlier this year at San Diego Comic-Con 2015, Heavy Metal released a killer series of psychedelic blacklight “Lord of Light” screen prints based on the artwork of Barry Geller and Jack Kirby to commemorate the artwork appearing in color for the very first time in Heavy Metal Magazine #276! These pieces by Geller and Kirby, mostly unseen before now, are part of American history as they were the original artwork used by the CIA for Operation: Argo, which helped free American embassy workers during the Iranian coup in 1979.
If you missed out on the SDCC release of “SAM”, which is now sold out, you’re in luck! Heavy Metal is releasing a new variant of the print exclusively at MondoCon 2 this weekend in Austin. The MondoCon 2015 Exclusive Lord of Light “SAM” Metallic Variant Screen Print by Jack Kirby and Barry Geller measures 24”x36” and features 7 metallic inks. Limited to just 100 pieces, collectors can purchase this awesome variant print at the Heavy Metal MondoCon booth for $100.
