Oh man, The Blot knows so many Kirby fans that are going to go crazy over these San Diego Comic-Con 2015 exclusive psychedelic “Lord of Light” blacklight prints!!! Barry Geller and Jack Kirby’s “Lord of Light” artwork is set to appear in color for the very first time in Heavy Metal #276, and to celebrate, Heavy Metal is giving Comic-Con attendees a chance to own a piece of history in bold psychedelic blacklight! They are releasing this mind-blowing artwork in a series of limited edition prints that will literally blow your mind.
These pieces by Geller and Kirby, mostly unseen before now, are part of American history as they were the original artwork used by the CIA for Operation: Argo, which helped free American embassy workers during the Iranian coup in 1979. There are 14 prints in all in this exciting new series, with each design limited to just 50 pieces.
Each San Diego Comic-Con 2015 Exclusive Jack Kirby “Lord of Light” Blacklight Print measures either 36”x24” or 24”x36”, features 7-9 colors and retails for $210. These prints are based on “Lord of Light” by Roger Zelazny, conceived by Barry Geller and Jack Kirby, colored by Mark Englert. All 14 prints are currently available for pre-order at the Heavy Metal online store for pick-up exclusively at the Heavy Metal SDCC booth #1529.
