The Blot has a confession...there was a time when The Flash was my favorite superhero, but not this Flash. You see, my Flash has red hair and answers to the name Wally West! I still don’t understand DC Comics’ rationale in resurrecting Barry Allen, one of the most important comic book deaths of all time. But he’s back and Wally doesn’t even exist in DC’s “New 52” universe (yes, I know he’s coming back soon but it’s been years!). It also doesn’t help that The CW has cast Grant Gustin, who I hated on Glee, as Barry in their upcoming The Flash live action television show! Nevertheless, I’m still pretty excited about the series because it means we’ll be getting lots and lots of Rouges!!!
The CW has been releasing teaser images of their new The Flash costume over the past two weeks, and generally I like what I’m seeing so far. The color’s a little dark and it’s got too many “New 52” lines and too few lightning bolts, but Grant does look cool posing in this costume. I just wish he didn’t looks so goofy moving in the costume since The Flash will be constantly in motion. Doesn’t he look terrible in these action shots?
I’ll still give DC and Warner Bros a pass on these photos since they’ve typically done such a great job with their superhero costumes over the past decade, including Batman, Superman and Green Arrow (let’s ignore movie Green Lantern for the moment). I will be interested in seeing what kind of special effects they’ll utilize to make The Flash look like he’s running at super speeds. Now bring on some villain costumes!
