Somehow The Blot totally missed this pretty cool release by Obey Giant last week. While “Slice It Up” isn’t necessarily my favorite Fairey design, when was the last time a standard Obey Giant release had a run size as small as 100 pieces!?! That alone makes this piece something special. As Shepard explained, “some of my earliest inspiration in art and design comes from Punk and Post-Punk album art as well as the do-it-yourself ethos of the movements themselves. I love that Punk was not about virtuosity, but ingenuity, creativity, attitude, and fearlessness. If you don’t like it, rip it up, or slice it up, and start over.”
“Slice It Up” by Shepard Fairey is a 18”x24” signed and numbered Obey Giant screen print. Limited to just 100 pieces, this print went on sale last Thursday, January 9th, at the Obey Giant online store for $45. As with most Obey releases, this print sold out immediately upon release.
