The Blot saw Thor: The Dark World last weekend and I freaking loved it! Ok, it wasn’t the best Marvel movie ever but it was definitely one of my favorites. It features the perfect mix of action and humor, something I wouldn’t have originally expected from the Thor franchise. Marvel has also done an incredible job casting this franchise. Chris Hemsworth really is Thor, and Tom Hiddleston is the true breakout star from the Marvel movie universe. He should be in every single film they produce. The only thing this film was lacking was a single scene featuring Hemsworth in Thor’s signature winged helmet!
Personally, The Blot could have done with a little less Natalie Portman and a little more Jaimie Alexander as Sif and Kat Dennings as Darcy Lewish. At least Portman’s Jane Foster was less annoying in Dark World than she was in the first Thor movie and Idris Elba's Heimdall saw an expanded role. And while I loved the bigger role for the Warriors Three (Ray Stevenson and Zachary Levi are two of my favorite actors), why did Hogun get so short changed!?!
Thor: The Dark World is definitely a great film and how can you not love the first ever team up of Thor and Doctor Who (Christopher Eccleston, the Ninth Doctor, stars as the evil Malekith). I recommend seeing it in theaters, and if you do be sure to stick around for the 2 post credit bonus scenes!
