The Blot’s really not all that familiar with Elf on the Shelf, but from what I’ve heard about this “new” Christmas tradition it scares the hell out of me! According to the Elf on the Shelf book, at the start of each Christmas season the elf appears to serve as Santa's eyes and ears in each family’s home, and every night it travels back to the North Pole to report in. I’m definitely not a fan of the types of lessons it teaches our children, but that’s a discussion for another time and place.
