Arrow's Series Premiere on The CW Tonight!

Tonight Arrow debuts on The CW and the internet is a buzz. Sadly, The Blot’s not all that excited for this live action DC Comics adaptation. While I’m a diehard comic book fan, I’ve never been able to get into “super hero” television shows. Whether it be CBS’ The Flash or ABC’s Lois and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman, they could never live up to the comic books I love to read. The same holds true for The CW’s Smallville. I tried to like it, I really did, but I never could stick with it. Honestly, I’ve only ever seen a handful of episodes and those always involved some really big guest stars like the Justice League, Zatanna, the JSA, or Booster Gold and Blue Beetle.

So when the CW green-lit a new series centering on Green Arrow of all heroes I had my doubts. While Oliver Queen made a huge impact on Smallville (or so I’ve heard), can he really carry his own show? Do people even know who he is? Nothing I’ve seen in the show’s TV ads, one sheet posters or trailers has gotten me even a little bit excited…well, except one thing! When I saw that Deathstroke mask I squealed like a little fan girl!!! That was a nice little surprise I definitely wasn’t expecting. Then rumors started to swirl involving the show’s Season 1 guest stars. Names like Huntress and Deadshot (one of my all time favorite villains) have definitely piqued my interest.

And because of that, I’ll definitely be tuning in to the Arrow series premiere tonight (Wednesday, October 10th) on The CW at 8/7c to find out more. I’m not holding my breath that it’ll be appointment television, but hopefully it’ll better than Mutant X.

Green Arrow Synopsys: After a violent shipwreck, billionaire playboy Oliver Queen was missing and presumed dead for five years before being discovered alive on a remote island in the Pacific. When he returns home to Starling City, his devoted mother Moira, much-beloved sister Thea, and best friend Tommy welcome him home, but they sense Oliver has been changed by his ordeal on the island. While Oliver hides the truth about the man he's become, he desperately wants to make amends for the actions he took as the boy he was. Most particularly, he seeks reconciliation with his former girlfriend, Laurel Lance. As Oliver reconnects with those closest to him, he secretly creates the persona of Arrow - a vigilante – to right the wrongs of his family, fight the ills of society, and restore Starling City to its former glory.

By day, Oliver plays the role of a wealthy, carefree and careless philanderer he used to be - flanked by his devoted chauffeur/bodyguard, John Diggle - while carefully concealing the secret identity he turns to under cover of darkness. However, Laurel's father, Detective Quentin Lance, is determined to arrest the vigilante operating in his city. Meanwhile, Oliver's own mother, Moira, knows much more about the deadly shipwreck than she has let on – and is more ruthless than he could ever imagine.

The series stars Stephen Amell as Oliver Queen, Colin Donnell as Tommy, Katie Cassidy as Laurel Lance, David Ramsey as John Diggle, Willa Holland as Thea Queen, with Susanna Thompson as Moira Queen and Paul Blackthorne as Detective Quentin Lance.
