The Blot hasn’t been enamored with the Obey Giant screen prints as of late. What used to be a weekly or monthly feature here on The Blot Says… has quickly dwindled down to once every six months or a year. In my opinion, the quality of the work just hasn’t been there. I know Shepard Fairey is busy running his empire now, but the brand could really use an influx of his vision. Obey Giant’s newest print “Love Is The Drug” really harkens back to some of Shepard’s earlier work and drew me in the minute I saw it. I think the transition from grenade to body could use some work, but over all I really like the message (and image).
"Love Is The Drug" by Shepard Fairey is an 18″x24″ signed and numbered screen print. The Yellow Edition has a limited edition run size of 200 pieces, while the Red Edition has a limited edition run size of 400 pieces. The prints will each retail for $45 and go on sale at two random times tomorrow, Tuesday, August 14th, at the Obey Giant online store.
