As crazy as it may seem, it’s been 25 years since director Sam Raimi’s Evil Dead 2 was released in theaters. The Evil Dead series is still one of The Blot’s all time favorites, and I never get tired of watching Bruce Campbell as Ashley J. Williams a.k.a. Ash. The series has given us so much these past 25 years, including introducing us to the Deadites, the Necronomicon, and most of all, Campbell’s Ash, the wise-crackin’ S-Mart employee who saws off his own hand and replaces it with a chainsaw. In honor of Evil Dead 2's silver anniversary, NECA is releasing this awesome, fully articulated SDCC 2012 Exclusive Ash action figure.
The San Diego Comic-Con 2012 Exclusive Hero from the Sky Ash Evil Dead 2 action figure captures a young Bruce Campbell as he was at the end of the film: bloodied, haggard, confused, having killed his girlfriend and a Deadite version of himself, terrified and mysteriously transported through time. Hero from the Sky Ash perfectly captures one of the most important moments in Evil Dead 2, the scene where the character is transported to the past setting up the third Evil Dead film, Army of Darkness. A sepia-toned paint job brings out not just nostalgia for the 25th Anniversary of Evil Dead 2, but also the desert Ash found himself (and his car, oddly enough) transported to.
