Loyal K.N.G. Winter 2011 T-Shirt Collection

Loyal K.N.G. Winter 2011 T-Shirt Collection - “Hip-Hop Movement” T-Shirt

I don’t know where I’ve been, but evidently last week Loyal K.N.G. released its Winter 2011 T-Shirt Collection. This Texas indie brand always injects a heavy dose of pop culture references in their designs, and they definitely went all out on this collection! From sports, movies and anime to hip-hop, comic books and video games, the Loyal K.N.G. Winter collection has a little bit of everything in it. This is definitely the clothing line for all you pop culture connoisseurs to check out.

Loyal K.N.G. Winter 2011 T-Shirt Collection - “Mojo Power” & “Robomon” T-Shirts

One of my favorite new t-shirts in this release is the “Mojo Power” design. It’s a crazy mash-up of Caesar from the Rise of the Planet of the Apes film, Mojo Jo Jo from The Powerpuff Girls, and the “Power” music video by Kanye West. You really can’t ask for much more pop culture goodness crammed into one t-shirt design than that, can you!?!

Loyal K.N.G. Winter 2011 T-Shirt Collection - “Atamahawk” & “Toon Raider” T-Shirts

For the sports fans there’s the Atlanta Braves inspired “Atamahawk” and the Oakland Raiders themed “Toon Raider” t-shirts. Both designs feature Atama, the Loyal K.N.G. mascot, reinterpreted as a professional sports team’s logo. The Loyal K.N.G. Winter 2011 Collection also includes designs inspired by Doraemon, RoboCop, KRS-One, Sam and Max and so much more! Can you spot all the homages in these tees?

Loyal K.N.G. Winter 2011 T-Shirt Collection - “Atama Chain” & “L.K.N.G. Script” T-Shirts

You can pick up one or the entire collection right now at the Loyal K.N.G. online store. Each t-Shirt retails for $30, or you can pick up some of these designs on crewnecks, which retail for $45.

Rampage Toys x Imps and Monsters The Manotaur Vinyl Figure

Rampage Toys x Imps and Monsters Manotaur Sculpt

Jon Malmstedt (of Rampage Toys) is teaming up with Justin Hillgrove (of Imps and Monsters) to release a very cool new Japanese vinyl figure, the Manotaur! The sculpt, which you can see above, was done by Justin, and a wax mold is already being worked on in Japan so production on this awesome new figure can get underway. The Blot loves the design of the Manotaur…he’s just the right mix of cute and deadly monster that would make a welcome additional to my ever-growing toy collection. I was also excited to find out he’ll be a whopping 8 inches tall! That’s one big Sofubi figure.

Rampage Toys x Imps and Monsters Manotaur Vinyl Figure Concept Artwork

Jon and Justin are aiming for a spring release, hopefully at Imps and Monsters’ Emerald City Comic-Con booth in Seattle! Jon will be painting the releases, and both Justin and Jon will be hosting sales of the figure on their respective websites. Also expect small and unique painted runs on occasion form both artists! The Blot is pretty excited about this new figure and I’m really looking forward to seeing the final product.

The Manotaur’s Origin: The Manotaur roams the world in search of something he can’t quite remember. In fact, ever since he invited that fire spirit into his head he’s had trouble concentrating on anything other than catering to his countless neuroses and consuming anything with the word “gummy” in the description. In any case, he’s pretty sure he’s forgetting something really important..."

Dracula Screen Print by Martin Ansin

Dracula Blood Red Standard Edition Screen Print by Martin Ansin

If you can remember way back to the beginning of 2011, Mondo’s first release was the amazing Dracula poster by Aaron Horkey and Vania. Well, Mondo got so many emails asking, "Where's Lugosi?!" Well, to properly bookend the year, Mondo is releasing its second Dracula poster of 2011 featuring Bela Lugosi and produced by Martin Ansin. But don't worry, this isn't the end of Mondo's Universal Monsters Screen Print Series.  The Austin based company has huge plans for it in 2012!

Dracula Screen the Metallic Ink Black and White Variant Print by Martin Ansin

What’s awesome about Mondo’s final release of 2011 is the three different versions they produced of it. First up is the Blood Red Regular Edition. Then there is the rare Metallic Ink Black and White Variant. And last but not least is something very special…a Transylvanian coffin shaped poster on wood with a super low edition!

Dracula Transylvanian Coffin Wood Screen Print by Martin Ansin

Dracula by Martin Ansin is a 24”x36” hand numbered screen print. The Blood Red Regular Edition has a limited edition run size of 350 pieces and retails for $45, while the Metallic Ink Black and White Variant has a run size of 100 pieces and retails for $85. My favorite of the bunch, the Transylvanian Coffin Wood Screen print measures 21”x36”, comes hand numbered and has a limited edition run size of just 75 pieces. This bad boy will retail for $135 each.  You can purchase all three prints seen here at a random time today, December 30th, at the Mondo online store.

“Two-Gun Mickey” Disney Screen Print by Tom Whalen

“Two-Gun Mickey” Disney Screen Print by Tom Whalen

As 2011 winds down, Mondo wanted to make sure it got one more release in from its Disney Classic Cartoon Series by Tom Whalen. So they’re releasing “Two-Gun Mickey”, a 24”x36” screen print based on the 1934 Disney animated short of the same name. “Two-Gun Mickey” features Mickey Mouse and his archenemy, “Pegleg” Pete, getting set for an old fashion duel. I bet I know who wins this one!

“Two-Gun Mickey” by Tom Whalen is a hand numbered screen print, and has a limited edition run size of 370 pieces. The print will retail for $45 and go on sale at a random time on today, Friday, December 30th, at the Mondo online store.

The Dark Knight Bat-Pod with Batman & The Joker Mini Mez-Itz Vehicle Set

Mezco Toyz - The Dark Knight Bat-Pod with Batman & The Joker Mini Mez-Itz Vehicle Set

Mezco Toyz continues its line of The Dark Knight toys with this vehicle set featuring a 2” Batman Mini Mez-Itz, a Joker 2” Mini Mez-Itz and the Bat-Pod (which premiered in The Dark Knight). Now you can recreate in your very own home one of the greatest movies of all time! While The Blot may have hated the Tumbler, I have to admit the Bat-Pod is pretty freaking sweet. I would personally love to cruise around town in one of these bad boys.

I’ve still yet to see any of Mezco’s Mini Mez-Itz vehicles in person, but in general I’ve been very impressed with Mezco's line of Mez-Itz vinyl figures. I stumbled upon some of their Mini Mez-Itz keychains and the figures looked pretty cool considering they’re 2” tall. The 2 inch Batman and Joker Mini Mez-Itz vinyl figures feature all the coolness and articulation of its larger counterpart at 1/3 the size. Batman can also fit atop the “legendary” Bat-Pod as he attempts to catch the Clown Prince.

The Dark Knight Bat-Pod with Batman and The Joker Mini Mez-Itz Vehicle Set is not scheduled to ship until April 2012, but you can pre-order one here from EntertainmentEarth.com for $20.99.

Papa Sama Jellyswordsman by Erick Scarecrow

ESC Toy - Papa Sama Jellyswordsman by Erick Scarecrow

ESC Toy’s last release for 2011 is here, and it’s the Papa Sama Jelly Swordsman resin figure by Erick Scarecrow! This 6.5" resin figure comes with two weapon accessories, a Miruku Mace and an Armor Dicer Sword, and includes attachable resin wings and a hat that gently plug into the figure. This beautiful blue and pink clear tint colorway is pretty awesome looking, and it might just be The Blot new favorite resin figure from ESC! Papa Sama Jellyswordsman has a limited edition run size of only 30 pieces, retails for $75 and can be purchased now at the ESC Toy online store.

Papa Sama Jellyswordsman Origin Story: An Infamous guard in the Pixella Castle, the Jelly Swordsman shape shifts from plasma to his natural form, thus lurking in the darkest corridors remaining unseen. His specialty is lunging on his victims from above with a surprise attack. In charge of guarding the Pixella Castle's Next Level door, the Jelly Swordsman defeated many intruders. A double hit from his special mace and sword can transform intruders into ghouls that will obey his command.

As time passed, the Jelly Swordsman grew really bored. Instead of practicing his swordsmanship, he overslept and watched bad late night B-movies. One evening a young girl named Armora with her pet dragon Dragovo happened to stumble upon the castle. They searched all the rooms desperately for an exit to return home. Armora and Dragovo came across one room with a door marked the Next Level. They fought past the ghouls to reach it. The ruckus awakened the Jelly Swordsman. His tail wiggled as he watched the intruders dispatch all his ghouls. After Armora and Dragovo cleared the room of ghouls, the Jelly Swordsman grabbed his weapons, took a breath mint and made his entrance.

Batman: Black & White Statue by Sam Kieth

DC Direct - Batman: Black & White Statue by Sam Kieth

While DC Direct’s line of Batman: Black and White statues are incredibly popular, The Blot’s never been all that into them. Then again, there’s never been a Batman: Black and White statue designed by Sam Kieth before! I’m a sucker for all things Sam Kieth, and this statue is crazy good. I love how sculptor Jonathan Matthews was able to so perfectly capture Kieth’s brilliantly twisted drawing of Batman into a fully fleshed out 3D statue.

DC Direct - Batman: Black & White Statue by Sam Kieth

The Batman: Black and White statue by Sam Kieth measures 5.5" high x 6" wide x 5" deep, and matches the previous figures in this series with its moody, monochromatic color scheme. Collectors can purchase one of these beautiful statues for $80 beginning March 21, 2012.

“Sleeping Beauty” Once Upon A Time Screen Print by Kevin Tong

Mondo Once Upon A Time Print Series - “Snow White” Standard Edition Screen Print by Kevin Tong

It’s Thursday, so that means it’s time for a new release in Mondo’s Once Upon A Time Screen Print Series by Kevin Tong! This week’s print is based on the Grimm’s Fairy Tale “Snow White” and while I hate to say it, it leaves much to be desired. While The Blot likes Tong’s use of silhouettes in these prints based on ABC’s hit television show Once Upon A Time, I just wish he had done something more with this one. A house with a smoking chimney really doesn’t scream “Snow White” to me.

Mondo Once Upon A Time Print Series - “Snow White” Gold Variant Screen Print by Kevin Tong

Each Once Upon A Time 18"x24" hand numbered screen print by Kevin Tong will have a Standard Edition with metallic ink and a limited edition run size of 225 prints, plus 95 metallic Gold Variants. The Standard Edition “Snow White” screen print will retail for $40, while the Gold Variant will retail for $65. These posters will go on sale at a random time today, Thursday, December 29th, at the Mondo online store.

Johnny Cupcakes Cupcake & Crossbones Blind Box Mini Vinyl Figure

Johnny Cupcakes Cupcake & Crossbones Blind Box Mini Vinyl Figures and Packaging

After making their world debut at New York Comic-Con 2011, Johnny Cupcakes first blind boxed figure is now available online at JohnnyCupcakes.com and all Johnny Cupcakes retail locations. The one thing The Blot was shocked to find out about these cute 2” tall Cupcake & Crossbones vinyl figures is that they’re scented! There are 10 flavors/color combinations in all, including marshmallow, blueberry, citrus, chocolate, vanilla, strawberry, grape, green apple, bubblegum and banana. I can’t like, I’m really itching to find out what that Marshmallow JC Crossbones figure smells like. Although the one I really want is the glittery Vanilla colorway, which kind of looks glow in the dark in the pics.

Johnny Cupcakes Cupcake & Crossbones Blind Box Mini Vinyl Figures and Packaging

Each Johnny Cupcakes Cupcake & Crossbones mini vinyl figure comes foil sealed in a blind box, so it’s a mystery to which color/flavor you’ll get. Like with all blind boxed series, some scents/colorways are rarer than others, but I haven’t seen any official ratios yet. Pick one up today for just $9.99 at the Johnny Cupcakes online store. And if you place an order between now and December 31st at 11:59pm EST you can use the coupon code “jingle” for 15% off your entire order!

Fur Face Boy Series 6 T-Shirt Collection

Fur Face Boy Series 6 T-Shirt Collection - FFB Tartan Plaid, Astro Fur 2.0, FFB Springfield & Fur Fighter Boy T-Shirts

Last week Fur Face Boy released its sixth t-shirt collection! Boy has time flown by or what!?! The Blot’s always pretty excited for a new FFB drop because of all the pop culture references artist Ha crams into all of his designs, and Series 6 is no exception. Along with Fur Face Boy’s signature logo tee, Series 6 also includes designs which spoof The Simpsons, pay homage to Ralph Lauren’s Polo and incorporates the classic Street Fighter 2 font. FFB also included an updated version of one of his original designs, Astro Fur, which pays tribute to the classic Japanese manga series Astro Boy! Throw in a sweet argyle pattern and you’ve got a sick collection that features eight t-shirt designs, two crewnecks, a zip-up hoodie and Fur Face Boy’s first ever polo.

“New 52” Superman DC Universe All Stars Series 2 Action Figure

DC Universe All Stars Series 2 by Mattel - “New 52” Superman Action Figure

Yesterday, CBR dropped the official news that Mattel would be including two “New 52” versions of classic DC Universe superheroes as part of its new DC Universe All Stars toy line. DCU All Stars Series 2 would include “New 52” Superman, “New 52” Flash (I honestly can’t tell the difference between this version of The Flash and every other Barry Allen version but whatever), Red Robin (this has to be Earth 2 Red Robin, right? No way high school age Tim Drake is this big or this buff), and “evil” Supergirl. The Blot talked about this release briefly on Twitter yesterday, but I thought a full blown blog post might be in order.

DC Universe All Stars Series 2 by Mattel - “New 52” The Flash Action Figure

Seeing this “New 52” Superman action figure up close has really gotten me depressed.  Not only could I care less about a Superman toy in this costume, most of America is going to be wondering why he looks so weird. @JeffRReid summed it up best, “That dude looks like Ultraman (of The Crime Syndicate), not Superman.” Warner Bros, DC and Mattel need to stop kidding themselves…America’s Superman wears his tight red undies on the outside!

DC Universe All Stars Series 2 by Mattel - “New 52” Superman, “New 52” The Flash, Red Robin & “Evil” Supergirl Action Figures

Between this new comic book uniform and the one they’re using in the upcoming Man of Steel live action movie, Warner Bros is really missing out on a golden opportunity to bring Superman back to the mainstream. I don’t think the costume will be the reason Clark Kent isn’t back on the top of the superhero hierarchy, but it definitely isn’t helping.  While I'm fine with DC's reboot of its comic book universe, I've come to hate most of their redesigns.  They seem needless and extremely overworked.  Because of that, I can honestly say I won’t be buying any of these “New 52” action figures from Mattel or DC Direct (unless they release a Booster Gold action figure that is).

PaperMonster x Choke Urban Creation Umbrellas

Choke Urban Creation Umbrellas by PaperMonster

If like The Blot you don’t like getting wet, here’s a release just for you! PaperMonster, one of The Blot’s favorite stencil graffiti artists, has teamed up with Choke Urban Creation to produce a very cool umbrella featuring one of PaperMonster’s iconic images. Based on PaperMonster’s original painting “Outlaw”, the PaperMonster x Choke Urban Creation umbrella comes in packaging designed by the artist and features a one button auto-open/close design with each design viewable from above or below the umbrella. This is seriously such a great idea, and I really hope Choke brings in more street artists from around the globe to produce more umbrellas. I just hope these umbrellas work as well as they look!

PaperMonster x Choke Urban Creation Umbrellas

This release is actually one in a series of new designer umbrellas by Choke Urban Creation, which also features artwork by A1one (from Tehran) and Cabiao (from Buenos Aires). Each umbrella sells for 25 Euros and can be purchased from Choke Urban Creation’s online store.

Glossy Smorkin’ Labbit by Frank Kozik

Kidrobot Glossy Smorkin’ Labbit by Frank Kozik - White, Red and Black Editions.jpg

To be honest, The Blot’s not much of a Labbit fan. I’m just not all that in to vinyl figures that smoke. But even I’ve been won over by these super shiny Glossy Smorkin’ Labbits. I don’t know what Kidrobot does to get these vinyl figures looking so glossy, but they look super nice.

Kidrobot Glossy Smorkin’ Labbit by Frank Kozik - White, Red and Black Editions.jpg

Slick, sleek and smorkin’ hot, these 10 inch luscious Labbits are super smooth versions of the beloved chain smoker. Adorned with a matte cigarette and gloss coating (for improved aerodynamic action), the Smorkin’ Glossy Labbit by Frank Kozik is truly the look of the future. Releasing January 12 in editions of black, red and white, the Labbit of tomorrow will be available at Kidrobot stores, kidrobot.com and select retailers and retails worldwide for $60 each.

SF58 Exclusive “Snowgon” Ugly Unicorn by Rampage Toys

Superfestival 58 Exclusive “Snowgon” Ugly Unicorn Vinyl Figure by Rampage Toys

Jon Malmstedt of Rampage Toys has been working feverishly on a number of new runs for next month’s Superfestival 58 in Tokyo. I love the variety of different figures Jon’s been working with, and from the photos I’ve seen he’s really pulling out all the stops! My personal favorite is the “Snowgon” Ugly Unicorn, which was painted to resemble a Bullmark colorway of the "Return of Ultra Man" Kaiju named Snowgon. The “Snowgon” Ugly Unicorn vinyl figure features flesh colored vinyl with blue, yellow, red and black sprays.

The Superfestival 58 Exclusive “Snowgon” Ugly Unicorn has a limited edition run size of 5 figures and goes on sale January 9, 2012 at the show in Tokyo. If you aren't able to attend SF in Japan, any leftovers will be available first to the Ugly Unicorn mailing list, and after that they will go up on the Rampage Toys online store. To join the Ugly Unicorn mailing list, send Jon an e-mail at Rampage.Toys@yahoo.com.

Gremlins 2 Screen Print by Phantom City Creative

Gremlins 2 Spider Gremlin Posable Screen Print Cutout by Ken Taylor & Moon Editions

Last but not least is this crazy Spider Gremlin posable screen printed cutout. It comes packaged in a bag with a header card, and was handmade by Moon Editions…from the screen printing and laser cutting to the grommet assembly. This crazy figure even features 20 points of articulation! Illustrated by Ken Taylor, this screen printed Spider Gremlin cutout has a limited edition run size of 175 pieces and will retail for $75 each.

All four of these screen prints will go on sale at a random time today, Friday, December 23rd, at the Mondo online store.

Cannonball Marvel Comics Mini Bust by Bowen Designs

Cannonball Marvel Comics Mini Bust by Bowen Designs

The Blot doesn’t blog about traditional statues or busts all that often, but every once in a while one catches my eye and I feel compelled to write about it. As a kid The Blot was a huge New Mutants fan and my favorite New Mutant was their leader and co-founder Sam Guthrie a.k.a. Cannonball! Named for his mutant ability to fly through the air like a jet engine on fire, The Blot would pretty much buy any Marvel comic book that featured Cannonball no matter how small of a cameo it might be.

I always hoped one day Sam would graduate into the big leagues and become a full fledged member of the X-Men. I especially loved those old New Mutant issues where the team would bust out their “adult” uniforms to fill in for the X-Men when the team would go missing. Sadly, by the time Cannonball finally became a member of the main X-Men team, I had pretty much given up reading X books. Well, Cannonball is now back with his friends as a member of the New Mutants, and this new mini bust by Bowen Designs immortalizes Sam’s look as leader of the X-Men’s junior team.

The Cannonball Marvel Comics Mini Bust by Bowen Designs stands 7” tall and was sculpted by Troy McDevitt. Each mini bust retails for $80 each and is currently available for purchase from specialty stores everywhere.

The Hundreds x Garbage Pail Kids Collection

The Hundreds x Garbage Pail Kids Collection - “Adam Bomb” T-Shirt

Last week The Hundreds released a new collaboration with Topps featuring one of The Blot’s all time favorite trading card series, Garbage Pail Kids! It feels like the Garbage Pail Kids are definitely having a resurgence in 2011, as I’ve seen their names pop up a number times in our little corner of the art world, and it couldn’t have happened to a better ‘80s property.

The Hundreds x Garbage Pail Kids Collection - “Bloggy Bobby” Tee

Originally created as a spin-off of Topp’s Wacky Packages in 1985, Garbage Pail Kids quickly skyrocketed into everyone’s childhood memories through trading cards, stickers and key chains. What’s really cool about this collection is that it’s the first collaboration in Garbage Pail Kids’ 26-year history of creating disgustingly hilarious and outrageous characters. The Hundreds x Garbage Pail Kids Collection consists of five special edition The Hundreds themed characters, a proud addition to the over two dozen Garbage Pail Kids series created over the years.

The Hundreds x Garbage Pail Kids Collection - “Trashy Ashley” Tee

The Hundreds x Garbage Pail Kids Collection - “Burger Ben” Tee

The Hundreds x Topps Garbage Pail Kids includes “Adam Bomb”, which consists of The Hundreds’ signature character with an exploding head; “Bloggy Bobby”, a character with a melted face due to a technology overload; “Burger Ben”, a character chowing down on a greasy burger; “Stinky Scotty”, a character with bright blue hair, a skateboard, and several indications that he reeks; and “Trashy Ashley” a character wrapped in backstage passes and drenched in booze.

The Hundreds x Garbage Pail Kids Collection - “Stinky Scotty” Tee

The Hundreds x Garbage Pail Kids Collection Keychains

This killer collaboration includes THxGPK t-shirts ($36), snapback hats ($32), crewnecks ($64) and keychains ($5), all of which can be purchased at all of The Hundreds retail locations, The Hundreds online stores and select specialty stores worldwide. And be sure to keep your eyes out for the super rare The Hundreds x Garbage Pail Kids Doubles, which are the twins to the The Hundreds Garbage Pail Kids characters and feature an alternate identity. These THxGPK Doubles are being printed in extremely low numbers (less than 20 of each Double), and will be randomly assorted throughout all distribution.

“Sleeping Beauty” Once Upon A Time Screen Print by Kevin Tong

It’s Thursday, so you know what that means…a new release in Mondo’s Once Upon A Time Screen Print Series by Kevin Tong! This week’s print is based on the Grimm’s Fairy Tale “Sleeping Beauty” and is actually pretty cool. I especially love the juxtaposition of Sleeping Beauty and Prince Charming’s faces. I just wish ABC’s Once Upon A Time was as good as these screen prints!

Mondo Once Upon A Time Print Series - “Sleeping Beauty” Gold Variant Screen Print by Kevin Tong

Each Once Upon A Time 18"x24" hand numbered screen print by Kevin Tong will have a Standard Edition with metallic ink and a limited edition run size of 225 prints, plus 95 metallic Gold Variants. The Dark Knight Rises Full Trailer #1

Here it is, the first full trailer for this summer’s The Dark Knight Rises! I don’t know why, but seeing this in the theater last weekend didn’t get me as excited for the film as I thought it would. I’ve since rewatched it a few times and it’s definitely growing on me, but I’m not sold on Bane as the film’s main villain yet. Then again this could all be a rouse similar to Batman Begins. I’m still holding out hope we find out it is really Ra's al Ghul or the Riddler behind all these shenanigans. Either way, I know where I’ll be at midnight on my birthday next year! I have to believe this will be a fitting end to DC Comics' greatest trilogy. As I always like to say, “In Christopher Nolan We Trust.”

The Dark Knight Rises premieres in theaters worldwide on Friday, July 20, 2012.

The Avengers Movie Pop! Marvel Vinyl Figure Bobble Heads by Funko

The Avengers Movie Pop! Marvel Vinyl Figure Bobble Heads by Funko - Nick Fury, Captain America, Iron Man, Thor & The Incredible Hulk

The Blot got a really exciting email from Funko yesterday unveiling all of their tie-ins to this summer’s sure fire hit The Avengers! Funko’s The Avengers Movie Pop! Marvel Vinyl Figure Bobble Head Series includes Captain America, Iron Man, Thor, the Hulk and Nick Fury. These figures look awesome, and I can only hope this is just Wave 1 because I need me a Hawkeye Pop! Marvel figure something fierce.

Of the five figures seen here, the biggest surprise to me is the inclusion of Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury. I was half expecting a bobble head of Scarlet Johansson’s Black Widow instead, but the figure does look spot on! Plus, since this is the only new character in the wave I’ve got a strong feeling fans are going to be going crazy for him. Each The Avengers Pop! Marvel vinyl figure bobble head stands 3.75” tall, has a rotating head and comes in a displayable window box. Pick one up for $9.99 when these Avengers assemble in stores starting on May 4th, 2012.

Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance One Sheet Movie Poster

Ghost Rider Spirit of Vengeance Theatrical One Sheet Movie Poster.jpg

Sony has released the first one sheet movie poster featuring a full image of Marvel’s Ghost Rider for its upcoming film Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance. I’m still amazed this film got made and is a true sequel instead of a reboot. Does Nicolas Cage really have that much clout to get a second Ghost Rider film released, or is this one being self funded by the sale of his comic book collection? I’m willing to go out on a limb and say this film is going to be horrible (when was the last time Cage made a good film?), but I can’t stop looking at this poster. The new Ghost Rider looks so bad ass!  If only the movie turned out to be equally as cool.

Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance blazes into theaters on February 17, 2012.

Toy Review: Kickstarter Edition Morgon XL Resin Figure by Motorbot

Toy Review: Kickstarter Edition Morgon XL Resin Figure by Motorbot

After a series of crazy experiments, Motorbot has transformed his well dressed monster Morgon into the hulking behemoth Morgon XL! I’m actually not sure what Motorbot is calling his newest 5” resin figure, but you’ll definitely want to be picking one up the next time he makes these available for purchase. I received the colorway you see here as part of my reward for helping to fund his Kickstarter project and couldn’t believe how big it was.

Toy Review: Kickstarter Edition Morgon XL Resin Figure & Black & White Formaldehyde Face Resin Figure by Motorbot

For a 5” rotocasted figure, it’s got some real weight and heft to it. What’s really shocking is how much bigger the Morgon XL looks compared to the OG 4” Morgon. I was hoping to take a photo of the two figures next to each other, when I realized I don’t actually own the original Morgon resin figure. Instead I took the photo of Morgon XL with a Formaldehyde Face (which shares the same body as the OG Morgon) for a size comparision. I’ve also taken a photo of the new Morgon Xl with a Kidrobot 8” Dunny and a Super7 6” Mummy Boy for size comparison. As a collector first, I always think it’s helpful to see pics comparing the new toy with a standard sized figure I can use as a point of reference.

Toy Review: Kickstarter Edition Morgon XL Resin Figure by Motorbot with Super7 6 Inch Mummy Boy & Kidrobot 8 Inch Dunny

To be honest, I don't know if I would have bought this figure on its own. But after playing with it for a few days, I have to say the new Morgon XL is a really cool medium sized monster figure and a great addition to my collection. If there was one thing I was surprised by it is the fact that the Morgon XL has no articulation. That’s not really a big deal to me (and it doesn’t affect the toy’s aesthetic), but I’ve come to expect at least one point of articulation from Motorbot’s medium and large scale figures. If nothing else, this just goes to show how good Motobot is at sculpting and casting resin, and how high he’s set the bar. Who else in the toy community is consistently producing resin figures in a variety of sizes with multiple points of articulation? I really can’t think of anyone other than Texas' own Motorbot!

To see more of Motorbot's creepy creatures, check out the Deadbear Studios online store. And keep your eyes peeled to TheBlotSays.com for the next Morgon XL release!

Made to Order Text_r Dunnys & Labbits by Ryan the Wheelbarrow

Made to Order Text_r Dunnys & Labbits by Ryan the Wheelbarrow

Ryan the Wheelbarrow has just put up a pretty cool option in his online store that I know readers of TheBlotSays.com are going to be excited about. For a limited time only, you can place an order with Ryan for a unique, made-to-order custom art toy! Ryan is offering either a 3” Dunny ($60) or a 1.5” Labbit ($40), and collectors get to pick the Text_r base color of their choice. After that, each custom Text_r vinyl figure is created with white di-cut vinyl letters and glossy spray paint.

But don’t waste too much time picking a color, only 5 Labbits figures and 10 Dunny figures are available for pre-order and both are going fast! Both are currently available through the Ryan the Wheelbarrow online store.

And The Sleepy Dan Giveaway Winner Is...

Sleepy Dan x TheBlotSays.com Prize Pack Giveaway

Before we get to announcing the winner, let me first thank Sleepy Dan for donating this awesome prize of a Pillow Logo Drawstring NAPsac and a Sleepy Dan Fan Pack that includes two pillow logo stickers, a pocket note pad, four buttons with Sleepy Dan Series 1 graphics, and a plush pillow logo key-chain which makes a great zipper pull.

And now the moment you’ve all been waiting for… I asked the fine folks at Random.org to generate a number for me, and the number they chose was: 1!!! Don’t think I’ve ever seen #1 pop up before so that’s pretty cool.

Congrats to @UCFBiggie!

I’ll be DM’ing you shortly to get your shipping information. Thanks again for everyone who entered, and look for more contests in the near future.
