While The Blot was in Dallas for Thanksgiving I got a very exciting package from Motorbot full of some crazy looking, never before seen resin figures! The toys inside were my reward for helping fund Motorbot’s Kickstarter project earlier this year and they were well worth the wait. The highlight of my Kickstarter set is one of Motorbot’s newest creations, the 7” Treature Erectus. I’ve blogged about the Treature Erectus a few times, but I thought a proper review was in store after finally seeing one in person.
Like most of you, The Blot has a hard time gauging just how big or small a figure is. For instance, a 20” Dunny is a much larger figure than the 20” Doze Green Kidrobot Black figure. So I have to say I was pleasantly surprised to find out the Treature is a massive7-8 inches tall. As you can see from the photo below, it’s almost as tall as an 8” Dunny and equally as wide. The detailing of the Treature Erectus is also impressive.
It features Motorbot’s trademark monster teeth and doll eyes, and has incredibly wrinkled skin that resembles the skin of an elephant. Be sure to check out the figure’s back, which really highlight’s Motorbot sculpting skills. But by far the most impressive aspect of the Treature Erectus is its arm joints. This rotocast figure has two points of articulation and some of the smoothest movement I’ve seen in a handmade resin toy. Motorbot’s skills have definitely come a long way since his last resin figure with arm articulation (2010’s The Outsider).
But I haven’t even mentioned the best part of the Treature Erectus, this 7-8 inch handmade, hand painted rotocast figure can be yours for just $60! Now that’s a price that can’t be beat. Pick one up from the Deadbear Studios online store today or contact Motorbot about commissioning a one of a kind Treature Erectus.
