GID Green Lantern DC Universe Pop! Heroes Vinyl Figure Toy Review

When Funko’s DC Universe Pop! Heroes Vinyl Figures made its unexpected debut at San Diego Comic-Con 2010, the toy line was originally called Funko Force 2.0 and included four unannounced SDCC exclusives: a blue and grey Batman, a metallic blue and grey Batman, a black Batgirl and a glow-in-the-dark Green Lantern. And let’s just be honest, the GID Green Lantern Pop! Heroes vinyl figure seen below is hands down the coolest figure in the entire toy line!

The GID Green Lantern figure is also the rarest figure in the Pop! Heroes toy line with a limited edition run size of just 240 pieces. The Blot’s been searching for one of these awesome glow in the dark figures since I first saw pics of it the weekend of SDCC, but everyone said they sold out at the con. Worst of all, these have been selling on eBay for over $40, which was way more than I wanted to spend.

Thankfully, Funko had a secret stash of GID Green Lantern figures back at the warehouse and have re-released them in the updated Pop! Heroes packaging (which is far superior to the toy line’s original packaging seen here). Now you too can own a GID Green Lantern for just $13. Collectors can head to Gemini Collectibles to purchase one of these cute super heroes today!

And if you couldn’t tell before, I love this figure! There’s not much to the Green Lantern mold, but this power glow version of Hal Jordan looks awesome. What’s even better is this figure doesn’t have the same issue with its 1 point of articulation as my Batman Pop! Heroes figure. Unlike Batman’s white plastic, Green Lantern’s neck joint is made from glow in the dark green plastic so it doesn’t stand out at all.

In my opinion, this is the best Pop! Heroes DC Universe vinyl figure released to date, but it’s also the hardest to find. My suggestion is to grab one as soon as possible, because these are going to be impossible to find once 2011 turns into the year of Green Lantern with the release of the Emerald Warrior’s live action movie, new animated series and tons of new toy lines.
