Blue and Gray Batman DC Universe Pop! Heroes Vinyl Figure Toy Review

When Funko’s Pop! Heroes DC Universe vinyl figures made their unexpected debut at San Diego Comic-Con 2010, the toy line was originally called Funko Force 2.0 and included four unannounced SDCC exclusives: a blue and grey Batman, a metallic blue and grey Batman, a black Batgirl and a glow-in-the-dark Green Lantern. The Blot’s always preferred his Batman blue and grey, so I knew right away I had to have one of these SDCC exclusive colorways.

Sadly, reports from San Diego said all of Funko’s SDCC Exclusive Pop! Heroes figures sold out over the weekend.  Finally after months of searching, I stumbled upon Gemini Collectibles and my Funko dreams came true! Gemini Collectibles had all four SDCC exclusives in stock and at reasonable prices to boot. Now you too can own a blue and grey Batman (limited edition of 480) and for just $15!

As for the figure itself, I really like it. For a mini-figure the mold is surprisingly detailed (check out the spikes on the back of Batman’s gloves) and I was glad to see Batman have a legitimate cape attached to his body. The fact that these Pop! Heroes only have 1 point of articulation at the neck doesn’t bother me, but I do have one issue: the head’s joint!

It’s not as noticeable from the front, but from the right angle (or from the back) you can see the bright white pole Batman’s head sits on. Why they didn’t paint this joint blue or skin colored is beyond me, because it's bright white color really makes it stand out in a bad way. The Blot’s also not a huge fan of this figure’s packaging, but thankfully neither was Funko. The packaging has since been changed to a box similar to the Mighty Muggs packaging. Even with its faults, these Pop! Heroes are a steal for $7-15, and proabably the best DC Comics mini-figures I've ever seen.
