To coincide with Argonaut Resins’ 2nd Anniversary, END has reteamed with Robbie Busch to produce a three figure set of custom Halloween themed Tuttz resin figures. Robbie did an amazing paint job on these figures, giving them a truly Halloween inspired look. The Blot especially love the skulls he added to their collars.
Best of all, each hand painted Halloween Tuttz comes with a mini original gouache acrylic canvass with Robbie's take on the Tuttz cat, a clear tint Skull (from the Argonaut Resins x Robbie Busch El Diablo resin releases) and a custom hand painted box!
The three Robbie Busch x Argonaut Resins Halloween Tuttz resin figures are scheduled to go on sale this Sunday, October 31st, so keep your eyes peeled on the Argonaut Resins online store this Halloween!

Bad Dads: An Art Show Tribute to the Films of Wes Anderson
This Saturday is opening night of a very special movie themed art show The Blot is very excited about. “Bad Dads: An Art Show Tribute to Wes Anderson,” presented by Spoke Art, is a group show culling from some of Wes Anderson's most memorable and loved scenes, characters, concepts and themes, realized by some of the new contemporary art scene's quickest rising and established stars. In addition to catchy soundtracks, sharp dialogue and effortless cinematography, one of the main underlying themes to many of the iconic and cult-status films of Wes Anderson is the incorporation of characters with family issues, notably father issues…hence the show’s name, “Bad Dads.”
Spoke Art’s “Bad Dads” group art show opens Saturday, October 30th, from 8pm to midnight at LoPo Gallery, San Francisco’s newest art space. The show will be on display till Saturday, November 27th and is free and open to the public. Check out some of the amazing art debuting at the show, including this The Blot Says… exclusive first look at Gene Guynn's amazing Fantastic Mr. Fox piece below:
“Bad Dads: An Art Show Tribute to Wes Anderson” has an all star lineup representing nearly seventy pop surrealist painters, screen printers, street and new contemporary artists working in the United States and beyond. Artists include such notable guests as Ana Bagayan, Munk One, Caia Koopman, Dave MacDowell, Carlos Ramos, Dabs and Myla, Sandi Calistro, Tim Doyle, Kevin Tong, Akira Beard, Greg Gossel, Shannon Bonatakis, Robert Bowen, Dave Correia, Jason Vivona, Zoltron and many more.
In keeping with Spoke Art's vision of making art both accessible and affordable, many of the works from the show have been produced into limited edition fine art prints. Both original and printed works will be made available for purchase through the Spoke Art online store immediately following the show's opening.

M 5 Bravo & Stee-Gar by Jeff Lamm Teaser Images
Without a doubt, The Blot favorite new toy of 2010 is Jeff Lamm’s Greasebat. The excitement in the designer toy community over this figure has been in toxicating, and I was excited to learn yesterday that Lamm already has his next two figures, M 5 Bravo and Stee-Gar, in development! But these aren’t just any two figures, but the arch enemies of Greasebat.
Each toy is made of three interchangeable sections and can be mixed and matched as seen in the pictures above. On top of that, each figure has at least four points of articulation. You can only see a tiny portion of the wax molds in the pictures Jeff leaked, but they look pretty awesome. These should be a great compliment to the Greasebat figure…too bad they want to see him destroyed!
Here is M 5 Bravo and Stee-Gar’s official back story:
The guy with the single large eye is called M 5 Bravo. He's a rogue military prototype recon robot/monster mix. Originally intended for recon missions on harsh alien planets, his large single eye is night vision capable, telescopic and has the ability to see thermal images. He can then broadcast those images via the TV screen on his chest. He recently became self aware and has vowed to destroy Greasebat at any cost. M 5 Bravo is virtually indestructible due to his thick skin covered in armored bumps, but he does have a weakness, his bulging, ready to burst eyeball. His horns can retract to half their length, although the purpose for this is currently unknown.
The other hairy guy is Stee-Gar. He was originally developed from pollution eating microbes by research scientists Dr. Stephens and Dr. Henry "Hank" Garfield, hence the name. Demand for bigger pollution eating beasts lead to Stee-Gar’s creation. He has also gained independent thought, left his government masters and now is on a mission to destroy Greasebat, who he sees as a giant walking ball of oily pollution. Stee-Gar can fly short distances on his stubby wings, like a chicken, and his fur and thick armored scales allow him to operate in all environments.

Mondo Star Wars Screen Print Series #11 - Luke’s Destiny by Frank Stockton
The eleventh screen print in the Mondo Star Wars Screen Print Series was announced yesterday, and it’s a beautiful print by Frank Stockton entitled “Luke’s Destiny.” This is the first Star Wars print by Mondo Tees to feature either Luke Skywalker or Darth Vader, and they definitely picked a killer scene to depict. Is there any scene in the Star Wars franchise as riveting and impactful than the moment in The Empire Strikes Back when Vader announces to Luke (and to the world for that matter) that he’s Luke’s father?
“Luke’s Destiny” by Frank Stockton is a hand numbered 24“x36” screen print. This Star Wars print has a limited edition run size of 360 and will retail for $50 each. Collectors can purchase “Luke’s Destiny” directly from Mondo Tees at a random time today, Thursday, October 28th, here.

DC Comics x Medicom Batman: The Animated Series 400% & 1000% Be@rbrick
Medicom continues its celebration of DC Comics’ 75th Anniversary with the release of a 400% and 1000% Batman Be@rbrick made in the style of the hit television show Batman: The Animated Series. Batman: TAS is considered to be one of, if not the, greatest super hero cartoons ever produced, and Medicom did a great job representing its source material. While The Blot really likes this black and grey Batman Be@rbrick, I think Medicom did a much better job with their previously released Batman: TAS 100% Kubrick.
The DC Comics x Medicom Batman: The Animated Series 400% and 1000% Be@rbricks are scheduled to begin shipping in April 2011. The 400% Batman: TAS Be@rbrick stands approximately 11 inches tall and retails for around $85, while the 1000% Batman: TAS Be@rbrick stands approximately 27 inches tall and retails for around $360.

Joe Ledbetter also released an all new print on Monday (via Twitter), entitled “Eighty-Sixed.” This 12”x12” giclee print was printed on heavystock watercolor paper and has a limited edition run size of 75 pieces. "WTF? FTW!" Custom 8 Inch Dunny by Joe Ledbtter
Check out this awesome hand painted 8” Dunny entitled “WTF? FTW!” by Joe Ledbetter. Joe first unveiled this awesome custom figure Monday via Twitter, and it was purchased for $1,200 shortly thereafter.
I’m not sure what I like about this Dunny more, the fact that he’s only wearing one Nike sneaker or the fat stack of cash coming out of the back of his underwar. The figure also included Joe’s original sketch, which is pretty cool in its own right. I don’t know who picked up this killer piece, but color me jealous!

NEMO x Tenacious Toys Custom 8 Inch Dunny Wall Mount Plaster Figure
Mike "NEMO" Mendez and Tenacious Toys have teamed up on a truly unique one of a kind custom figure being auctioned off on eBay to benefit Andy Heng of ToysREvil after his unfortunate partial stroke last week. NEMO did an incredible job on this hand painted custom Dunny wall mount plaster figure, and I can honestly say I’ve never seen a figure like this before!
In case you were wondering how NEMO created this 8” Dunny, he poured plaster into the plastic shell 8" Dunnys are packaged in inside their boxes. Therefore, it's completely flat on the back making it perfect to be hung on your wall. The piece is about 8 inches tall and about 3 inches deep at its thickest point.
ALL of the money made from this figure will go directly to Andy Heng, Tenacious Toys will even eat the Paypal and eBay fees…so click here and start bidding now!

VinylHearts.com - A Benefit for Andy Heng of ToysREvil
When The Blot first learned early last week that Andy "TOYSREVIL" Heng had been admitted to the hospital after suffering a partial stroke I was stunned to say the least. Here was someone I had never met, yet felt so close to after reading his blog religiously for the past five years. Andy is a terrific blogger and an inspiration to toy bloggers everywhere, so of course when I heard the news of his illness I wanted to do something…but what? Thankfully artist Cris Rose sprung into action and created VinylHearts.com, a website where the entire designer toy community could come together and help one of its own.
VinylHearts.com has been a great source of news on Andy’s condition, and even features messages from Andy and his family. The website is also a place where you can offer support, donations and well-wishes to Mr. TOYSREVIL. Artists from around the globe have also chipped in by offering up customs, artwork and A/Ps for sale/auction with all of the proceeds being donated to Andy to help with his medical bills.
It’s been amazing to see the community come together like this, and I recommend all readers of The Blot Says… to head over to VinylHearts.com to see what you can do! Thanks for everything Andy, you are in The Blot's thoughts and prayers. Get better soon!

The Lout Yoka Artist Proofs by Motorbot
To celebrate Motorbot’s first production toy, the Texas artist has released 15 Artist Proof Lout Yokas with some serious enhancements! Originally released by adFunture as part of its New York Comic-Con 2010 exclusive New Yorka Series, Motorbot’s taken his A/Ps Lout Yoaks the next level with custom accessories and a brand new s/n print.
One of the reasons The Blot loves buying A/P figures, besides the ability to give my money directly to the artist, is because of the uniqueness of the figure. Often artists will embellish their A/Ps with extra paint or sell them as a set with anything from a print, to original artwork or a t-shirt. It’s the perfect mesh of custom figure and production piece, and Motorbot has done it all by including custom accessories, custom packaging and a print with his A/P Yokas.
Each A/P Lout Yoka by Motorbot comes with a custom fez, a custom cigar, comes in signed and numbered custom packaging AND includes a signed and number 4”x5” print. Best of all, this can all be yours for just $30 from the Deadbear online store. But do it quickly, as half of them are already gone.

Star Wars Mini Mighty Muggs Toy Review
The Blot was randomly in Target last night and stumbled upon my very first sighting of Hasbro’s all new 3” Star Wars Mini Mighty Muggs! The store had all three 3 packs in stock, and of course I couldn’t resist picking up the Boba Fett, IG-88 and Bossk set. To my surprise, these really are just miniature versions of Hasbro’s standard Mighty Muggs. They’re almost identical to the original Mighty Muggs toy line in every way, although there have been some color changes made to the Boba Fett figure. I’ve included a picture below of the original Boba Fett Mighty Mugg with his 3” counterpart for scale comparison.
I haven’t heard much about these Mini Mighty Muggs yet, but I actually like these little guys a whole lot more than I thought I would. It doesn't hurt that I’ve been wanting an IG-88 Mighty Mugg to be produced since the toy line started a few years ago. The only complaint I have about these figures is the shoddy paint job. The quality control on these figures is definitely a step down from the original Mighty Muggs line, as all three of my characters had defects in their paint.
I was also disappointed to learn the blasters in their hands could not be removed, but at least each figure has their own unique gun. I’m not sure why Hasbro decided to produce the figures’ guns and right arms as one piece, but at least this way you’ll never lose the figures' weapons. My guess is it was done to remove all loose parts from the toy line so it could be marketed to a younger demographic, which also explains why the box states these Star Wars Mini Mighty Muggs are for Ages 3+.
All in all, The Blot’s really just happy to see Hasbro’s Mighty Muggs toy line continue, even if it is in a 3 inch form. Here’s hoping we see Marvel, G.I. Joe and Transformers Mini Mighty Muggs released sometime soon!
Star Wars Mini Mighty Muggs 3 packs are sold exclusively at Target for $12.99. Along with the Boba Fett, IG-88 and Bossk 3 pack, there is also a 3 pack including Yoda, Darth Vader and a Stormtrooper, and a 3 pack including Captain Rex, General Grievous and Cad Bane.

Mondo Star Wars Screen Print Series #10 - Palace by Tom Whalen
The tenth screen print in the Mondo Star Wars Screen Print Series was unveiled last night and it’s entitled “Palace” by Tom Whalen. The Blot loves “Palace” so much it might actually be the first print in the series I try to buy!
Whalen’s artwork is always top notch, and he does a great job incorporating all of my favorite things from Jabba’s palace into one print without overcrowding the image. I especially love that Whalen included Han Solo in carbonite and a little Salacious Crumb in the corner. If only he had found room for a Gamorrean Guard somewhere!
“Palace” by Tom whalen is a hand numbered 17.5″x26″ screen print. This Star Wars print has a limited edition run size of 260, and will retail for $50 each. Collectors can purchase the “Palace” print directly from Mondo Tees at a random time today, Friday, October 22nd, here.

Frank Miller’s Sin City Inspired Threadless T-Shirt "Sin City"
The Blot loves the fact that Threadless constantly pumps out new and creative comic book inspired t-shirts. While “Sin City” continues that trend of new comic book inspired tees, it’s definitely not all that creative. In fact, it looks like it could have been copied straight out of a Frank Miller comic book. I’m not saying it is a copy, just that there doesn’t seem to be that much creativity behind it.
Nevertheless, as a huge fan of Miller’s Sin City I think this shirt is pretty cool. I just hope Miller is getting some sort of residual from Threadless as this design looks like a scene pulled out from the Sin City live action movie adaptation.
Inspired by Frank Miller’s seminal comic book Sin City, the Threadless t-shirt “Sin City” comes printed on a black t-shirt and is currently on sale at Threadless.com in honor Halloween for just $10 (it’s normally $18)! The shirt comes in both guys and girls styles, sizes S-2XL.

Heroes of the DC Universe: Hawk & Dove Busts by DC Direct
From Brightest Day to Birds of Prey, the reborn team of Hawk (Hank Hall) and Dove (Dawn Granger) are flyin' high again! Designed by illustrator Amanda Conner, Hawk and Dove are the latest characters to join the popular Women of the DC Universe and Heroes of the DC Universe bust series from DC Direct. The Blot absolutely loves it when the D-list super heroes I grew up with get their due, and that’s exactly what’s happening right now with the recent resurgence in popularity of Hawk and Dove.
Hawk and Dove (Don Hall) were two of my favorite heroes as members of the Teen Titans, and I was a die-hard fan of the Hawk and Dove (Dawn Granger) comic book from the late ‘80s and early ‘90s. Since Armageddon 2001 in 1991 they’ve been used sparingly, but then Geoff Johns brought Dove back in Justice Society of America. Since then, Johns has made Hawk and Dove an intricate part of both Blackest Night and Brightest Day, cementing their place in the current DC Universe.
These limited edition Hawk and Dove busts by DC Direct are hand-painted, cold-cast porcelain, stand around 5.5 inches tall and come packaged in a 4-color box. Each bust is sold separately and retails for $70 each (so it’s $140 for the pair). They are scheduled to go on sale June 1, 2011, but in the meantime you can follow the adventures of Hawk and Dove monthly in DC Comics’ Brightest Day and Birds of Prey.

“Of Fur and Felt” Muppet Screen Print Set by Rhys Cooper
Nakatomi has just released for pre-sale a crazy three print set entitled “Of Fur and Felt” by Rhys Cooper. Each print features a different Muppet from Sesame Street and The Muppets (Oscar the Grouch, Cookie Monster and Animal) as if they really exited in the wild. Not only did Cooper come up with some awesome reinterpretations of my favorite Jim Henson creations, but I really love all the little details like the text at the bottom of each print and the inclusion of Oscar’s pet worm Slimey. Rhys even came up with an intricate back story for these prints which you can read below.
The “Of Fur and Felt” Muppet Screen Print Set by Rhys Cooper includes three 16”×20” six color screen prints: “Animalus Wyldapsychosis,” “Monsterous Cookiebanditous” and “Oscarvorus Grouchamaximus.” Each full set ordered will also include a 3 piece mini-print set of “original field-sketched drawings,” printed with metallic charcoal ink. This set of three 8”×10” prints will only be given to those who pre-order the full set.
“Of Fur and Felt can be pre-ordered now through the Nakatomi online store. The full set retails for $75 for the 3 prints, plus the 3 handbills, while the individual prints are $30 each. This pre-sale option expires on Monday, October 25th at Midnight CST, so be sure to get your orders in on time!
Professor J. Maury was a rare breed of man- a rugged explorer, a learned biologist, and most importantly- an exacting artist. His field studies of the varied fauna that he discovered on his journeys delighted and amazed readers of the scientific journals of the time, and provided fodder for the “Penny Dreadfuls” and children’s books. Professor Maury rose to almost super-star acclaim, though, after his discovery of the Sesame Islands and the completely unique creatures that populated them. These brand new plants and animals appeared to develop completely on their own evolutionary course, isolated from any of the seven continents. In retrospect, one must consider the veracity of some of Maury’s claims- that of a “shaggy, earless, tuskless, mammoth’” that was invisible until believed in, and singing fruits and vegetables that wanted to teach him about local hygiene customs. The scientific establishment would have easily laughed these new discoveries off, if it weren’t for the Professor’s previously unshakable reputation and the curiously colored pelts that he produced upon arriving back from his travels. He returned with pelts of shaggy green, the most unnatural blue, and even an impossibly two-headed purple pelt.
The real tragedy of Professor Maury’s story, however, is that the location of the islands was a closely guarded secret, and all records of the exact directions were lost. Many an evolutionary scholar begged him to reveal the coordinates, and even his contemporary, Charles Darwin was overheard visiting Prof. Maury on his deathbed, whispering into his ear: “Can you tell me how to get…how to get to the Sesame Islands?”
The lasting legacy of Professor Maury is his amazing field studies of the wildlife he found there, and Rhys Cooper has adapted these drawings in a series of silkscreened prints for Nakatomi available now for pre-order!
