Artist Daniel Danger and Gallery1988 have partnered up to release Danger's first full-scale art toy, and it’s a super limited and beautiful hand-crafted piece. (link) The Blot’s a huge fan of Daniel Danger’s artwork, so when I learned about this out of the blue release yesterday, I got really excited! What I wasn’t expecting was it will be released next week…talk about keeping something really under the radar!
This figure has to be seen to be believed. Produced by Pretty In Plastic, this vinyl figure will go down in the record books, even if there aren't going to be many made. You can check out the original sketch by Daniel that the toy is based on above, and some in progress shots of an early prototype of the Gallery1988 x Daniel Danger art toy below:
This new art toy from Gallery1988 and Daniel Danger will first be available at the opening reception for Danger’s upcoming solo exhibit “They Will Take It Back” at Gallery1988 LA next Thursday, August 5th. Each toy will come with a hand embellished print and will be extremely limited edition. If you’re interested in picking up one of these killer art toys, email Gallery1988 LA at gallery1988@aol.com to be added to the waiting list.

SDCC Sneak Peek - Kidrobot Dunny Series 2010
Kidrobot had seven different figures from their upcoming Dunny Series 2010 on display at San Diego Comic-Con 2010, and they look even better in 3D than they did as drawings on the previously leaked checklist. Included in the display were designs by MAD, Frank Kozik, Jesse Hernandez, MCA, Triclops, Damarak the Destroyer and Amanda Visell.
Kidrobot’s Dunny Series 2010 drops on August 19, but be on the lookout for news from the designer toy company about Dunny Series 2010 contests, parties and more starting August 1st.

Threadless - Comic Book Inspired T-Shirt “The X-Menagerie”
When The Blot first saw “The X-Menagerie,” an awesome comic book themed t-shirt from Threadless, my jaw dropped. This spoof of Marvel’s X-Men looks awesome, and includes almost all of the team’s core members reinterpreted as animals. If I had one complaint it would be that the design left out Angel and Kitty Pryde, but that’s really splitting hairs. What’s really cool is if you order a hoodie of “The X-Menagerie” the front features the “X” logo as if it were slashed by Wolverine’s claws.
The X-Menagerie by Alice X. Zhang and Peter Kramar
The X-Men themed t-shirt “The X-Menagerie” comes printed on a slate American Apparel t-shirt or hoodie and is currently available on Threadless.com for $20 and a zip-up hoodie for $45. The shirt comes in both guys and girls styles, sizes S-2XL.

Check out this awesome collaboration between DC Comics and Converse! Converses’ classic high top All Star Chuck Taylors have been redesigned to feature three of the DC Universe’s biggest stars: Superman, Batman and Green Lantern. I understand Green Lantern’s inclusion with his upcoming movie, but why in the world they didn’t also release a Wonder Woman design is beyond me.

Mondo Star Wars Screen Print Series #3 - Father: Encounter on Dagobah by Tomer Hanuka
The third screen print in the Mondo Star Wars Screen Print Series was unveiled yesterday and it is entitled “Father: Encounter on Dagobah.” "Father: Encounter on Dagobah" by Tomer Hanuka features Luke Skywalker, with Yoda on his back, walking through the Dagobah swampland and envisioning Darth Vader in the distant landscape. We’re now three prints into this amazing series, and this is definitely The Blot’s favorite Star Wars print to date!
According to the Tomer, “the central idea going into this image was depicting planet Dagobah itself as a portrait of Luke’s subconscious in its most interesting and unformed phase. In a nightmarish sequence, Luke runs into the mist where he thinks he saw Vader. Luke finds him and a lightsaber duel ends with Vader’s decapitation. The mask cracks open on the severed head, exposing the frozen face of a dead Luke Skywalker. The suggestion here is that somewhere within Luke’s psyche there is a potential for ultimate evil. Luke’s greatest challenge isn’t the Galactic Empire and its endless, faceless troopers, but the magnetism of the dark side; the seductive idea of choosing his own potential for power over everything else.” (link)
“Father: Encounter on Dagobah” by Tomer Hanuka is a hand numbered 19″x25″ screen print with a limited edition run size of 250. Each print retails for $50 and can be purchased directly from Mondo Tees at a random time today, July 29th, here.

Bubble Gum Tuttz Wave 2 Resin Figures by Argonaut Resins
After selling out in a variety of colors, Eric Nocella Diaz is bringing his Tuttz resin figure back for a second round of figures and colorways. The first colorway getting the second Wave treatment by Argonaut Resins is the Bubble Gum Tuttz. Bubble Gum Tuttz Wave 2 will consist of six figures, two pink tints, two purple tints, and as always, two not so mysterious chase figures (see the photo below to try and pick them out of the crowd).
Each Bubble Gum Tuttz Wave 2 resin figure come packaged in a custom hand made vinyl bag, each with an adjustable strap and velcro closure, and also includes a mini Tuttz story card and a Certificates of Authenticity signed by END (sculptor) and Terrence O'Neal (bag maker). Bubble Gum Tuttz Wave 2 goes on sale today, Thursday, July 29th, at noon EST in the Argonaut Resins online store.

Brightest Day Action Figures Series 1
DC Comics' biggest event continues as Brightest Day burns away the Blackest Night! In this best-selling follow-up, the white light has resurrected twelve heroes and villains. Though the exact reasons for their rebirths remain a mystery, each is destined to play an intricate role in the future of the DC Universe. DC Direct’s Brightest Day Series 1 features three recently resurrected heroes, Aquaman, Hawkgirl and Deadman, and one previously resurrected hero, Green Arrow.
It looks like all four of the action figures in Brightest Day Series 1 include highly detailed accessories, but The Blot’s favorite by far is Deadman, who comes with a White Lantern power battery, an exchangeable unmasked head and an extra Deadman mask.
Each Brightest Day action figure stands at 6.5-6.75" tall, features multiple points of articulation, includes a display base and comes packaged in a 4-color clamshell blister card. These resurrected heroes are scheduled to go on sale March 2nd, 2011.

Disney x Medicom TRON Legacy Clu Kubrick & Be@rbrick Set
Medicom will be releasing two TRON Legacy Kubrick & Be@rbrick 2-packs to commemorate Disney’s release of the film on December 17th. The second Disney x Medicom TRON Legacy Kubrick and Be@rbrick 2-pack features a Clu Kubrick and a Clu’s Lightcycle Be@rbrick.
According to the film’s trailer, Clu looks identical to Kevin Flynn, the star of the original 1982 film, and rightfully so, as both characters are portrayed by Jeff Bridges. I assume Clu is the primary villain of TRON Legacy, and if so, this means the bad guys will now be wearing yellow instead of orange (as it was in the first TRON film).
The TRON Legacy 2-pack will go on sale sometime in October 2010 and will retail for around $30.

From the previews I’ve seen, it looks like Sam is the star of TRON Legacy and will be following in his father’s footsteps wearing a translucent blue uniform similar (just like dear old dad). The TRON Legacy 2-pack will go on sale sometime in October 2010 and will retail for around $30.

The first Disney x Medicom TRON 2-pack is an all Kubrick set, which features Tron & Sark as they appeared in the original 1982 film.

Green Lantern Teaser Character Movie Posters
San Diego Comic-Con 2010 is over, but that doesn’t mean Comic-Con related news will stop. This past weekend DC Comics and Warner Bros. debuted the first set of teaser one sheet character movie posters for their upcoming live action Green Lantern film. In The Blot’s honest opinion...these posters rock!
I love how these theatrical one sheets fit together to form the outline of the Green Lantern logo and each poster includes a different stanza of the Green Lantern Corps’ oath: “In brightest day, in blackest night, no evil shall escape my sight, let those who worship evil's might, beware my power... Green Lantern's light!” They also do a bit of foreshadowing with the Hector Hammond theatrical one sheet featuring a slightly yellow outline.
Green Lantern is scheduled to premiere in theaters on June 17th, 2011 and stars Ryan Reynolds as Hal Jordan, Blake Lively as Carol Ferris, Mark Strong as Sinestro, Peter Sarsgaard as Hector Hammond, Temuera Morrison as Abin Sur, Tim Robbins as Senator Hammond and Angela Bassett as Dr. Amanda Waller.

LTD Tee - Mutiny of the Flesh T-Shirt & Art Print Box Set by JR Goldberg
The newest box set from LTD Tee has arrived, and I know a lot of The Blot Says readers will really like it! “Mutiny of the Flesh” is from the mind of Los Angeles illustrator J.R. Goldberg, who has dedicated countless hours of scientific research on sleeping bunnies to explore the depths of their depravity. What she found is that these warm and fuzzy, seemingly docile creatures, harbor dark and murderous desires just like us humans.
J.R. Goldberg is an illustrator, printmaker, and comic book artist who resides in the ancient caves of Los Angeles. She escaped with a BFA from the renowned School of the Art Institute of Chicago, which she feels has too many “ofs” in its title. J.R. recently had her first book published by Slave Labor Graphics, JELLYFIST, for which she provided the illustrations and half of the commentary. Additional works include HOW TO BE A PROPER HOST, and other zines for the Small Science Collective. J.R hopes to not become a hobo, forced to draw on the side of dumpsters, and eat cardboard.
The “Mutiny of the Flesh” box set from LTD Tee is available for sale this week only, exclusively at www.ltdtee.net. From July 26th through August 1st, fans can purchase the “Mutiny of the Flesh” box set by J.R. Goldberg. Each box set includes a screen printed t-shirt, an 8”x10” art print and a LTD Tee sticker pack all packaged in a custom screen printed box.
The “Mutiny of the Flesh” box set retails for $26.99, but readers of The Blot Says… can use the discount code “bunnymonsters” to save 20% off their entire order!

SDCC 2010 Exclusive GID Skullhead 8 Inch Dunny by Huck Gee
If you haven’t heard by now, this year's San Diego Comic-Con exclusive 8” Dunny from Kidrobot was a Glow in the Dark Skullhead by Huck Gee! From the photos The Blot’s seen the figure looks pretty awesome (although I’ve heard a lot of complaints about the figure’s paintjob). Regardless, I love the figure’s head and wings and wish I could have been at SDCC to snag one.
If you’re like The Blot and weren’t able to attend Comic-Con this year (and refuse to pay flipper prices), fear not...there will be a 2nd colorway released soon with a much larger run size. No news yet on what this non-SDCC exclusive Skullhead Dunny will look like, but if the packaging is any indication it’ll be a red Skullhead.
Thanks to Vinyl Pulse for the photos above!

SDCC 10 - Mattel AttiTUBES Vinyl Figures
For the second straight year, Mattel has had samples of a potential new line of designer vinyl figures entitled AttiTUBES on display at San Diego Comic-Con. Again this year, Mattel prototypes of this new platform toy on display, including a blank AttiTubes figure, two generic spacemen, a Mattel kid and three characters from He-Man and the Masters of the Universe, Orko, Mer-Man and Leech.
While these figures look great, what really got The Blot excited was the mock-up drawings of other potential characters seen in the background! Along with a generic professor/scientist and an unknown superhero, Mattel had designs posted for Batman, Red Tornado, He-Man and Skeletor AttiTUBES vinyl figures. How cool is that?
While He-Man and Skeletor would obviously be included in any line of MOTU AttiTUBES, I assumed any plans for a DC Comics line were scrapped once Warner Bros. announced its licensing deal with Mezco Toyz. To me, these AttiTUBES figures are way too similar to Mezco’s line of Mez-Itz vinyl figures to release DC Universe figures in both platforms. Then again, maybe AttiTUBES will be marketed towards young children, while the Mez-Itz line is going after adult collectors.
Click here to see photos of the AttiTUBES vinyl figures Mattel had on display at San Diego Comic-Con 2009.

RED Character Movie Poster Set
Coming soon from Summit Entertainment and DC Comics is RED, an explosive action-comedy starring Bruce Willis, Morgan Freeman, John Malkovich and Helen Mirren. The film is a live action adaptation of the 2003 comic book mini-series of the same name by Warren Ellis and Cully Hamner, and looks awesome (if the trailer currently being shown in theaters is any indication of how good the film truly is).
Then again, any film with a cast that includes Willis, Freeman, Malkovich, Mirren, Mary-Louise Parker and Karl Urban better be good! The Blot’s particularly excited about this film because I really enjoyed the source material. Ellis is a comic book writing legend, and Hamner is one of my all time favorite artists. In fact, one of three pieces of original comic book artwork I own was drawn by Cully and is proudly displayed in my house.
For those of you unfamiliar with the RED comic books, here is the film’s official synopsis: Frank (Willis), Joe (Freeman), Marvin (Malkovich) and Victoria (Mirren) used to be the CIA’s top agents, but the secrets they know just made them the Agency’s top targets. Now framed for assassination, they must use all their collective cunning, experience and teamwork to stay one step ahead of their deadly pursuers and stay alive. To stop the operation, the team embarks on an impossible, cross-country mission to break into the top-secret CIA headquarters, where they will uncover one of the biggest conspiracies and cover-ups in government history.
RED is scheduled to premiere in theaters on October 15, 2010.

The Walking Dead Season 1 Cast Photo and Teaser Television Poster
Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’re probably aware AMC is about to premiere a brand new television show based on the extremely popular Image comic book, The Walking Dead by Robert Kirkman and Tony Moore. Next to TRON and Scott Pilgrim, I think the comic book property people seemed to be talking about the most at San Diego Comic-Con 2010 is the new The Walking Dead live action series.
While The Walking Dead comic book has been around for 75 issues now, the television show will start off with a six episode first season and will tell the story of life following a zombie apocalypse. Zombies have become the "it" monster in Hollywood these days and The Walking Dead is chock full of them! You can check out the show’s official Season 1 cast photo above, and The Walking Dead’s teaser one sheet television poster, by acclaimed painter and movie poster designer Drew Struzan, below.
The Walking Dead follows a group of survivors, led by police officer Rick Grimes, traveling in search of a safe and secure home. Andrew Lincoln will portray the lead role of Rick Grimes while actor Jon Bernthal will portray the character Shane, who worked with Rick in the police department before the zombie disaster. Other cast members includes Laurie Holden, who plays Andrea, one of two sisters who join the survivors of the zombie plague, Steven Yeun as Glenn, an expert scavenger, and Sarah Wayne Callies, who plays Rick's wife Lori.
The Walking Dead Season 1 will air on AMC starting in October 2010.

New Thor Hi-Res Official Movie Photos
Now that the filming of Thor is underway, Marvel is releasing more and more official movie stills of characters from the film. First up is a very Excalibur like photo featuring Chris Hemsworth as Donald Blake attempting to pull Thor's mighty hammer Mjolnir out of a rock.
Next up is the second photo featuring Chris Hemsworth as Thor and Anthony Hopkins as Thor’s father Odin. I don’t know about you guys think, but these photos are just plain beautiful! I just really love the shine everyone’s armor has…do we think that’s natural or computer enhanced!?!
And last but not least is a photo of Thor, Odin, Loki, Frigga and the Warriors Three all standing in Odin’s Hall of Asgard. This is definitely the coolest picture of the three, and from my moles at San Diego Comic-Con it sounds like the Marvel booth features an exact replica of Odin throne. I can only imagine the types of pictures being taken there this weekend!
Thor is premieres in theaters on May 6th, 2011.

SDCC 2010 Exclusive Thor & Captain America: The First Avenger Mini One Sheet Movie Posters
This weekend at San Diego Comic-Con 2010, Marvel Comics will be giving away two exclusive mini one sheet movie posters featuring concept artwork from their upcoming movies Thor and Captain America: The First Avenger! Both mini one sheet theatrical posters look beautiful, don’t they? The Blot just hopes the movies can look even half as good as these SDCC posters.
Thor is scheduled to premiere in theaters on May 6th, 2011, while Captain America: The First Avenger will debut two months later on July 22nd, 2011.
Scott Pilgrim Screen Print Series - A SDCC 2010 Exclusive
Oni Press, Bryan Lee O’Malley and Daniel Danger’s Tiny Media Empire have teamed up for a limited edition run of Scott Pilgrim faux concert posters. Each of the four silkscreened gig posters feature a band from the Scott Pilgrim comics by Bryan Lee O’Malley including: Sex Bob-omb, Clash at Demonhead, Crash & the Boys, and Kid Chameleon.
Tiny Media Empire and three powerhouse artists have each lent their style to one of the bands in the Scott Pilgrim series. Kevin Tong, best know for his gig poster work with Sonic Youth, Weezer, and Wilco, took on the Scott Pilgrim series’ quintessential band Sex Bob-omb. Daniel Danger, founder of Tiny Media Empire, put together a legendary video game reference masterpiece for his Clash At Demonhead gig poster. Underground comics favorite, Hellen Jo, used her trademark vibrant style for the quirky Crash & The Boys, and gig poster pros Aesthetic Apparatus have created an iconic gem for Scott Pilgrim’s high school band Kid Chameleon.
These four silkscreened four-color 18″x24″ posters are hand numbered and will be sold as a complete set at San Diego Comic-Con 2010. 200 sets will be sold at the Oni Press SDCC booth #1833 for $120. In addition to the full sets, 300 copies of a Mettalic Ink Varient of Kevin Tong’s Sex Bob-omb gig poster will available individually for $35.
Can’t make it to Comic-Con? No worries, each artist will have a limited quantity of their own poster available for sale on their website after the convention.

First Look: Scott Pilgrim vs. The World Action Figures by Mezco Toyz
The Blot knows nothing about these new Scott Pilgrim action figures by Mezco Toyz other than they’re 6 inches tall…but don’t they look amazing!?!
Evidently these Scott Pilgrim 6” action figures tie-in with the upcoming Scott Pilgrim vs. The World motion picture, but appear to be based on Pilgrim’s look in the graphic novels by Bryan Lee O'Malley. I’ll be sure to post more about these awesome toys as details emerge!
The Scott Pilgrim live action movie adaptation, Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, premieres on August 13, 2010
