The Blot was shocked when I realized yesterday that I had never blogged about one of my favorite designer toy companies, Super7. Now as readers of The Blot Says… you could probably figure out that I’m not that into kaiju vinyl and its U.S. equivalent, but I’ve always liked many of Super7’s soft vinyl creations (especially its Hooded Zombie figure). With that being said, I was still a little surprised to realize just how much of this year’s Super7 San Diego Comic Con exclusives I wanted to add to my collection. There are too many exclusives to mention here, but if you want to see them all head over to Super7’s website dedicated solely to its San Diego Comic Con 2009 exclusives.
The one exclusive everyone seems to be talking about is Big Sal by Kathie Olivas and Brandt Peters. My favorite part about Big Sal is the fact that he is cast in clear blue vinyl, but the $25 price tag is pretty nice too. This little guy is destined to sell out fast due to Olivas and Peters’ huge fan base, so be sure to show up to their signing scheduled for Thursday at 3pm at the Super7 SDCC booth #4729 very early.
The Super7 SDCC09 exclusive I’m looking forward to the most is the Monster Family 3-pack, which includes unpainted, white figures of Steven the Bat, Holis and Rose Vampire. What’s really great about this exclusive 3-pack is that it is only being released on Saturday when each of the figures’ creators (Bwana Spoons, Le Merde and Josh Herbolsheimer respectively) will be on hand to sign and doodle away on these blank canvases. The Rose Vampire figure looks killer and I really like the new Steven the Bat mold. These three blank figures will only be sold as set for the ridiculously low price of $50 during the Monster Family signing at noon on Saturday, July 25th at the Super7 booth.
There are a slew of other really cool figures, like L’amour Supreme’s Jade Mongolion (available all four days for $65 each) and Itokin Park’s Red Devil Lucha Bear (available Friday at noon for $65 each), so head over to the Super7 San Diego Comic Con 2009 website now to check them out.
Also note that Super7 has scheduled most of their artists for signings at their SDCC 09 booth #4729, so collectors will definitely want to make a point of stopping by the Super7 booth at least once a day.
