Of all the San Diego Comic Con exclusive action figures being released this summer, I think this might be the one I’m the most excited about. While I don’t collect He-Man and the Masters of the Universe figures, just the fact that Mattel is finally making a He-Ro, the Cosmic Warrior action figure has me all kinds of excited.
For those of you interested in learning more about the legend of He-Ro I definitely recommend heading to the official He-Ro Wikipedia page. But all you really need to know is that this figure has been in the works for over 20 years and Mattel is now at long last producing the first ever He-Ro action figure. The San Diego Comic Con 2009 exclusive He-Ro figure comes complete with a magic staff and Power Sword.
What is also cool about this He-Ro figure is that each action figure comes with one of three randomly inserted spell stones that come packaged in a closed Spell Staff so that the only way to know which version you have is to open the package and then open the staff to see the color. The three colored spell stones are the green Spell of Protection stone, the red Spell of Defense stone and the purple Spell of Healing stone.
While He-Ro is a SDCC exclusive, it is really more of a variant since He-Ro will be available after the convention at MattyCollector.com. To differentiate between those figures sold at SDCC and those sold after the Con, the figures sold at SDCC will have a special SDCC logo printed on its chest under the armor. But you'll need to take him out of the package and remove the armor to see the logo. Seems like Mattel is doing all that it can to make you open up your He-Ro action figure and take it out of its package.
No news yet on the production run or price of the San Diego Comic Con 2009 exclusive He-Ro action figure or the MattyCollector.com He-Ro action figure, but we do know that the He-Ro figure without the SDCC logo will be available on MattyCollector.com after SDCC on Monday, August 3rd at 12:00 noon ET.
