I love how the writers of HIMYM used that random joke to explain the absence of Alyson Hannigan’s Lily from the show’s remaining batch of episodes while Alyson was off on maternity leave. Thankfully the show’s producers planned ahead and had Hannigan film a few key scenes for the show’s fourth season finale. This way she is not totally absent from How I Met Your Mother’s last four episodes of the year.
