WALL•E 100% Be@rbrick 2 Figure Set

The Blot still hasn’t seen WALL•E yet, and I don’t see myself watching it anytime soon. Ever since I saw (and was subsequently disappointed by) The Incredibles back in 2004 I have completely fallen off the Pixar Animation/Disney bandwagon. But, critics everywhere are singing the praise of WALL•E and some are even going so far as to say it should be nominated for the Oscar for Best Motion Picture and not just the Oscar for Best Animated Film, which is really saying something.

WALL•E by Disney/Pixar - WALL•E and EVE
For all the WALL•E fans out there who actually went to see the movie, Medicom Toy is releasing a brand new two figure WALL•E 100% Be@rbrick set which includes a WALL•E Be@rbrick and an EVE Be@rbrick. I think Medicom did another great Be@rbrick movie tie-in with these figures and I am sure Disney/Pixar fans worldwide will be scrambling to get their hands on these cute little figures.

The WALL·E 100% Be@rbrick Set - WALL·E and EVE Be@rbricks
The WALL•E Be@rbrick two figure set includes one 100% WALL•E Be@rbrick figure and one 100% EVE Be@rbrick figure, and the set will retail for around $25-30. Fans can expect the WALL•E 100% Be@rbrick Set to be released sometime in 2009, but no exact date has been announced yet.

Bourdain Is Back! No Reservations Season 5 Starts Monday, January 5th

If someone asked The Blot what my television guilty pleasure was the answer would be simple…Anthony Bourdain’s No Reservations. The Travel Channel show has become appointment television for me over the past few years because of the eloquent way Chef Tony expresses his unique take on life. Plus, I absolutely love the way Bourdain challenges his viewers’ attitudes on food and how he explores the connection between a people’s culture and the food they create. As it turns out, our economy is not the only thing going global, so too are our taste buds.

Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations - Season 5 Season Premiere in Mexico on Monday, January 5, 2009
Bourdain has helped push me to try all types of new foods I had never even heard of before and each new experience has been better than the last. I now like to think of myself as a FIT (Foodie-in-Training). Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations Season 5 starts this Monday, January 5, 2009 with an episode featuring the sights and sounds of Mexico, and it’s shaping up to be the best season yet. In the coming months Bourdain will be heading to exotic locations such as Venice, Azores, Sri Lanka and Vietnam as well as local U.S. stops to cities like Washington, D.C., Chicago and New York City. To find out more about the upcoming season, check out this sneak peek video clip of Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations Season 5:

As The Blot did last year, I’ll be bringing you sneak peeks and exclusive videos of Bourdain’s travels all season long. So whether you’re a novice eater or a die-hard Bourdanian like myself, keep coming back to The Blot Says… for the latest in all things Anthony Bourdain!

Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations Season 5 premieres on Monday, January 5, 2009 at 10/9c on the Travel Channel.

George Orwell x OBEY Giant Print Set by Shepard Fairey

Today, December 31st, Shepard Fairey will be putting his George Orwell x Obey Giant print set on sale at ObeyGiant.com at some time between the hours of noon and 3 pm PST. A couple of months ago Shepard was approached by Penguin Books (UK) to do his take on the cover art for Orwell’s literary classics 1984 and Animal Farm. Evidently both books were inspirational and personal favorites of Shepard’s, so he jumped at the chance to recreate the covers to these two landmark novels.

George Orwell x OBEY Giant Print Set - 1984 Book Cover by Shepard Fairey
For the re-release of the books with their new OBEY covers, Penguin Books did a promotion selling the books with a cover art print set. These prints were only available in the UK…until today! Each offset 1984 and Animal Farm prints are size A2 (about 17" x 24") and come signed and numbered by Shepard with an edition size of 200. The George Orwell x OBEY Giant print set is limited to one set per person/household and will be sold for $140.

George Orwell x OBEY Giant Print Set - Animal Farm Book Cover by Shepard Fairey
If you’re interested in this very cool limited edition print set you’d better act fast and be prepared to hit refresh non-stop for around three hours this afternoon, because if for some reason you aren’t online the second these prints go on sale you’re going to be out of luck.

Watchmen 100% Be@rbrick Sets

Now this is a movie tie in The Blot can get behind! On March 3, 2009 Medicom Toy will be releasing two different Watchmen 100% Be@rbrick sets. Set A includes The Comedian, Nite Owl II and Ozymandias, while Watchmen Be@rbrick Set B will include Doctor Manhattan, Rorschach and Silk Spectre II.

Watchmen 100% Be@rbrick Set A - The Comedian, Nite Owl II & Ozymandias Be@rbricks
Watchmen 100% Be@rbrick Set B - Dr. Manhattan, Rorschach & Silk Spectre II Be@rbricks
Each 3 figure Watchmen Be@rbrick set will retail for around $45 and should be available worldwide. Since no real Watchmen fan could possibly buy just one of the sets, it’s going to end up costing collectors $90 for all six figures. That’s kind of a lot if you ask me. While we can all be thankful Medicom isn’t releasing its Watchmen Be@rbricks as a blind box series, each set ends up selling for about $15 a figure which in my opinion is way too much for 100% Be@rbricks. At least this way it will be extremely easy to complete the set (and that sort of justifies the inflated price).

Marvel Mighty Muggs Wave 6 - The X-Men

The Blot has been wondering for months why none of Marvel’s merry mutants other than Wolverine have been included in any of Hasbro’s previously released Marvel Mighty Muggs waves. Thankfully Hasbro has finally unleashed X-Men Mighty Muggs on the world with its Marvel Mighty Muggs Wave 6. I’m not really feeling Sabretooth’s head (his face looks kind of weird) and it’s been too many years since Scott Summers has worn his original Cyclops uniform to deserve a figure, but over all Wave 6 is pretty solid. We finally get a new Wolverine colorway, this time an out of uniform Logan Mighty Mugg, and who could complain about Jean Grey as the good Phoenix.

Marvel Legends Mighty Muggs Wave 6 - Sabretooth, Phoenix (Jean Grey), Logan (Wolverine) & Cyclops
On a side note, it looks like Hasbro is raising the price of Mighty Muggs again with multiple retailers pre-selling Marvel Mighty Muggs Wave 6 as a four figure set for between $50-60. You can expect Marvel Mighty Muggs Wave 6 to hit store shelves sometime in February or March of 2009.

Terminator Salvation 100% Kubrick and Be@rbrick Set

There are some seriously awesome movie themed Be@rbricks coming out in 2009, the first of which is the upcoming Terminator Salvation 100% Kubrick and Be@rbrick set. The John Conner Kubrick actually looks remarkably like Christian Bale but what I love about this set is the T-600 Be@rbrick. How creepy does the T-600 look even in the form of a cute, cuddly teddy bear!?!? Those red piercing eyes are really killer, aren’t they?

Terminator Salvation 100% Kubrick and Be@rbrick Set - John Conner Kubrick & T-600 Be@rbrick
The Terminator Salvation 100% Kubrick and Be@rbrick Set is scheduled to retail for $35.00 each.

Land of the Lost Teaser Movie Poster

The Blot hates remakes…end of story. They typically bring nothing to the table and many times hurt the legacy of the original material. I really just don’t understand where all the creativity in Hollywood has gone. With that being said, I’m kind of excited about Will Ferrell’s upcoming remake of Sid and Marty Krofft’s classic children’s television show Land of the Lost.

Land of the Lost Teaser Movie Poster
Why you might ask would The Blot be excited about this remake? Because unlike so many other properties, Ferrell’s unique brand of comedy was made for the Krofft’s kooky/trippy 70’s style. Plus, I love that the movie appears to be staying true to the original Land of the Lost by giving its non-human characters that classic clunky Krofft look, latex rubber suits and all. Now if only we can get a big budget remake of H.R. Pufnstuf!

Land of the Lost stars Will Ferrell, Anna Friel, Danny R. McBride and Jorma Taccone, and is Directed by Brad Silberling. It will debut in theaters on June 5, 2009.

Happy Holidays from The Blot Says...

The Blot Has A Posse
The Blot hopes everyone had a very happy and healthy holiday this week. I headed home to Alabama on Wednesday to see the family and I can't believe how warm it is here. Aly and I were hoping for a cold x-mas and all we got was a somewhat cool yet extremely humid one. I think it might have been colder back in Houston. Oh well, what can you do? The Blot Says... will return with all new posts next week.

Underworld: Rise of the Lycans Character Movie Posters and Trailer

Every War Has A Beginning

Underworld: Rise of the Lycans Character Movie Poster - Bill Nighy as Viktor

I still remember watching the very first Underworld film. I was expecting some B-movie schlock and instead we got real movie magic. For a brief moment it turned Kate Beckinsale into a bona fide action star and made Scott Speedman tolerable. I’ve seen it multiple times and was even excited for the sequel, Underworld: Evolution, until I actually saw the movie in theaters and was thoroughly disappointed. Now that the third Underworld movie, Underworld: Rise of the Lycans, is set to hit theaters I don’t know what to expect.

Underworld: Rise of the Lycans Character Movie Poster - Rhona Mitra as Sonja
Underworld: Rise of the Lycans is not a traditional sequel in that it’s actually a prequel to the original film. What does that mean for quality? The Blot has no clue. One positive note is that Underworld 3 won’t be bogged down by the stink of Underworld: Evolution. But since it’s a prequel, Underworld: Rise of the Lycans won’t have the star power of Beckinsale or Speedman to carry the film.

Underworld: Rise of the Lycans Character Movie Poster - Michael Sheen as Lucian
As with many recently released prequels movie studios often green light prequels as a way to continue a franchise without having to pay its big named stars for a return engagement. These movies typically suck and end up being released direct to DVD. So I guess it can be construed as a good sign that Underworld: Rise of the Lycans was deemed good enough to still be released in theaters. Whether or not it will meet fans’ expectations is still yet to be seen.

Underworld: Rise of the Lycans Official Theatrical Trailer

Underworld: Rise of the Lycans will hit theaters nationwide on January 23, 2009.

The Cast of How I Met Your Mother in EW’s The Best of 2008

Since there was no new episode of How I Met Your Mother this week, I wanted to direct everyone’s attention to a pretty cool article featuring the cast of How I Met Your Mother in this week’s issue of Entertainment Weekly. "How I Met Your Mother Cast in The Best of 2008" is a 9 page photo spread in Entertainment Weekly’s "The Best and Worst of 2008" issue that reenacts some of the year’s most memorable moments memorably using the cast of HIMYM (Alyson Hannigan, Josh Radnor, Jason Segel, Colbie Smulders and Neil Patrick Harris) in all of the scene's key roles.

The Blot Wins His Fantasy Football League In Overtime

Only those of you who “play” fantasy football can relate to the weekend I’ve had. My fantasy squad, Team LoneStar, under performed for a month straight and started the season 0-4. I almost thought my season was over before it began. But then I finally put together two wins in a row and finished the season winning 8 of my last 9 head-to-head games to make it into the playoffs as the #3 seed.

The Blot Wins His 2008 Fantasy Football Championship Game
Chicago Bears Rookie Running Back Matt ForteAt this point I had also taken over as the league leader in points which was no small accomplishment since my team obviously wasn’t playing very well back in September. Then after steamrolling through the first two rounds of my fantasy league’s playoffs, I found myself playing in my Fantasy Super Bowl against the second highest scoring team in the league. I know Greene’s reading this so I will give him his due; his team kicked my butt all weekend. I was down huge at one point (at least 35 points), but my squad kept clawing their way back. In the end it came down to one game, Monday Night Football’s matchup of the Green Bay Packers and the Chicago Bears.

Monday Night Football - December 22, 2008 - Green Bay Packers at Chicago Bears - Bears RB Matt Forte Runs Into Green Bay Defenders Aaron Kampman and A.J. HawkI was losing by 14.88 points going into tonight's game, Greene’s team was done playing and I just had Bears rookie RB Matt Forte still to play. With 3 minutes left and the game tied, Green Bay had the ball and I was still losing by .25 points. It was a minor miracle that with 30 seconds left the Bears blocked Green Bay’s game winning field goal to force overtime and give Team LoneStar the glimmer of hope it needed. The Bears won the overtime coin toss, drove the field on the back of Forte and in the process of winning the game gave The Blot his league’s 2008 Championship. I know its dorky, but Aly and I were jumping around screaming as the field goal attempt was blocked and I realized I still had a chance at a championship. When the game was finally over and I had actually won I still couldn't believe what had happened. It was a crazy night and an even better ending!

Time Magazine’s 2008 Person of the Year Issue Cover Artwork by Obey Giant’s Shepard Fairey

If Obey Giant was not considered mainstream after all of the national media coverage of Shepard Fairey’s Barack Obama Presidential campaign artwork, it certainly is now. Fairey was asked by Time Magazine to illustrate the cover of its Person of the Year issue, which hits newsstands this week. Obama was chosen Time’s 2008 Man of the Year, so it was only fitting that the long running periodical ask Fairey to create the cover of such an monumental issue.

Shepard Fairey and His Barack Obama Cover Artwork to Time Magazine's 2008 Person of the Year Issue
Time has even branded Fairey as its Icon Maker of the Year since his Barack Obama posters became the icon of the 2008 Presidential campaign. Time has posted a video about Fairey in which he explains how he created the cover for Time Magazine’s 2008 Person of the Year issue. Head over to Time.com to watch the very interesting video.

Terminator Salvation Trailer and Movie Poster

The Blot loves The Terminator. Yes, the franchise has made some weird decisions over the years between countless random continuity changes, bad casting decisions and at least three diverging timelines and yet I’m still hooked. You see, for every bad decision Warner Bros. makes there are countless good ones. I love the television series Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, I actually enjoyed Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines, and I think casting Batman Christian Bale as John Connor was ingenious. Tying Bale down with a three picture deal was also a nice touch.

Terminator Salvation Theatrical One Sheet Movie Poster
In fact, the only downside to the upcoming film Terminator Salvation may be that it’s directed by McG. Now why you’d put the reboot of one of your most trusted franchises in the hands of McG is beyond me. If this just turns into a glorified music video I’m going to be ticked. This movie better be good McG, that’s all I’m saying!

Terminator Salvation premieres in theaters on May 22, 2009.

DC Universe Infinite Heroes Teen Titans 6 Pack: Mallah’s Revenge

DC Universe Infinite Heroes 3 Pack Wave 1 Action Figures - Gotham City S.W.A.T. Team Member, Commissioner Gordon, Weather Wizard, The Flash (Wally West), Mirror Master, Starfire, Captain Boomerang (Owen Mercer), Raven, Wonder Girl (Cassie Sandsmark), Superman, Supergirl (Kara Zor-El)Is anyone collecting Mattel’s new line of DC Universe 3.75 inch action figures? I’ve actually seen a lot of negative reviews on the new toy line with people's chief complaint being that the figures are too small and come with no accessories. But nevertheless, I really like them. Now I don’t see myself buying them, but I love that Mattel and DC have decided to release such a huge variety of heroes and villains, including some not very well known to mainstream America (i.e. Adam Strange, Black Hand, Hush and Power Girl). Plus, they are basing the figures on the present day DC Universe, which is something toy lines, especially Mattel, have shied away from in the past.

Coming in February 2009 is a DC Universe Infinite Heroes Modern Teen Titans 6 pack of figures entitled Mallah’s Revenge that includes the previously released Raven figure along with 5 all new figures: Cyborg, Robin, Arsenal, The Brain and Monsieur Mallah. I don’t know what I’m more excited about, the modern versions of both Robin and Arsenal getting their own action figures or the classic Doom Patrol and Teen Titan villains the Brotherhood of Evil finally getting some love from Mattel.

DC Universe Infinite Heroes Teen Titans 6 Pack: Mallah’s Revenge - Robin, Cyborg, Raven, Arsenal, The Brain & Monsieur Mallah
Monsieur Mallah and the Brain is one of the best, most bizarre villain partnerships ever created and I was more than a little ticked off when they were killed for the second time in the DC Comics mini-series Salvation Run. Hopefully their inclusion in this toy line means DC has some kind of plan in the works to bring back these classic kooky villains. The modern Teen Titans 6 Pack: Mallah’s Revenge should retail for around $30 and will come out sometime in February, 2009.

I Love You, Man Official Trailer

Paul Rudd and Jason Segel Star in the Upcoming Comedy I Love You, ManCan someone explain to me when Paul Rudd became a leading man in really funny comedies? I don’t know how it happened, but whatever he’s doing seems to be working. After starting his career by playing great supporting roles in really funny movies, Rudd has officially moved into the spotlight on his own since joining the Judd Apatow crew. For the bromantic comedy I Love You, Man Rudd reteams with How I Met Your Mother’s Jason Segel for the third time (the first two times happened in the Apatow produced comedies Knocked Up and Forgetting Sarah Marshall).

To The Blot this pairing seems like it would be a no brainer for any movie studio. If I Love You, Man is even half as funny as Role Models it’s going to be a big success. So far so good as the movie’s official trailer looks pretty damn funny.

I Love You, Man was written and directed by John Hamburg and also stars Andy Samberg, Jaime Pressly, Rashida Jones and JK Simmons. No release date has been announced for the film.

Coraline Alphabet Promo Movie Posters

Coraline is an upcoming horror/fantasy stop-motion animation movie based on the children’s novel of the same name by British author Neil Gaiman. In the spirit of full disclosure, I purchased the novel Coraline the week it came out in 2002 and it has sat on my bookshelf ever since. I keep meaning to read it (I really do), and it’s not even that long so I don’t know what my problem. It’s supposed to excellent and has won numerous literary awards since it was released, and yet still it sits there.

Coraline Alphabet Promo Movie Posters - A, B, C, D
Why you might ask then did I purchase Coraline almost seven years ago? Because of Neil Gaiman, end of story. The guy is point blank one of the best writers in the world. His Sandman series published by the DC Comics imprint Vertigo is considered a masterpiece and many literary critics who know way more about the subject than I do consider his comic book series worthy of comparison to some of the best written stories of the modern era. Because of that I’ve started to read Gaiman’s other written works, most of which are not in comic book form.

From the director of The Nightmare Before Christmas and James and the Giant Peach, Coraline is the story of a young girl who walks through a secret door in her new home and discovers an alternate version of her life – a better version. But when this wondrously off-kilter, fantastical adventure turns dangerous and her “Other” parents try to keep her forever, Coraline must count on her resourcefulness, determination, and bravery to get back home. As you can tell from the story’s description, many have compared the movie to Alice In Wonderland and for good reason.

Justice League International Series 2 Action Figures

Justice League International #24 Cover ArtworkReaders of The Blot Says… may remember that the late 80’s/early 90’s run of Keith Giffen, J.M. DeMatteis and Kevin Maguire on Justice League International is one of The Blot’s holy grails of comics. I hold it in the same high regard as the 80’s run of Marv Wolfman and George Perez on both The New Teen Titans and Crisis on Infinite Earths. And so it made me really happy this week to find out DC Direct was continuing its line of Justice League International action figures based on the artwork of Kevin Maguire.

DC Direct - Justice League International Series 2 Action Figures
There was no doubt in my mind that a second wave of figures would be coming because while Series 1 was great, it didn’t include any of the super heroes who really represented what it meant to be a member of the JLI. Yes Batman, Ice and G’Nort were important characters to many key JLI stories, but the humorous legacy of Justice League International was created by its core members: the Martian Manhunter, Booster Gold, Blue Beetle and Fire.

DC Direct Justice League International Series 2 - Martian Manhunter Action Figure
One of the highlights of the JLI era was Giffen and DeMatteis’ unique and absurd take on the classic JLA super hero J’onn J’onzz, the Martian Manhunter. His new found obsession with Oreos was hilarious and even though they took his personality in a bizarre direction, there is no doubt in my mind that the Martian Manhunter is and always will be the heart and soul of the Justice League. In my opinion his exclusion from the current Justice League series is a key reason the book has been so disappointing to fans; from the very start of the book’s re-launch, the team has been written without direction and focus. Something J’onn often brought to the Justice League of America.

DC Direct Justice League International Series 2 - Booster Gold Action Figure
DC Direct Justice League International Series 2 - Blue Beetle Action Figure
And while I am a little disappointed DC Direct chose to go with Fire and Ice’s original costumes (from their Ice Maiden and Green Flame Global Guardian days), I am pumped to finally be able to own a Justice League team consisting of Blue & Gold and Fire & Ice. These four characters are some of my favorite heroes of all time and I love that they are finally getting their due respect from the higher ups at DC Comics. Now that Tora (Ice) has been brought back to life, we only need to convince the idiots at DC to bring back poor dead Ted Kord (Blue Beetle).

DC Direct Justice League International Series 2 - Fire Action Figure
Each Justice League International Series 2 action figure stands between 6.75”-7” tall, features multiple points of articulation, a base to stand on and comes in a 4 color clamshell blister card packaging. You can expect to see the line of Justice League International Series 2 action figures in stores on August 26, 2009.

Lost Wednesdays - Season 5 Premiere Sneak Peek Promo Video

As we inch closer to Lost’s season premiere on Wednesday, January 21st, The Blot has been trying really hard not to find out too much information on the upcoming season. I want everything to be a complete surprise, at least when it comes to the two hour season premiere. With that being said, there was one thing to be learned from the latest Lost sneak peek provided by ABC…Jack will indeed shave off his scraggily looking beard in one of the show’s first two episodes! It’s not much of a spoiler, but it is good news. I don’t know how long I could have watched Jack mope around about the island with that horrible looking beard on his face. To find out more, feel free to watch the newest Lost Season 5 sneak peek promo video from ABC below:

Official X-Men Origins: Wolverine Trailer

The Blot has been waiting awhile to finally watch the new X-Men Origins: Wolverine trailer that debuted in theaters a few weeks ago before The Day the Earth Stood Still. There had been some grainy bootlegged versions on YouTube, but I wanted to wait to watch a good copy of it. Thankfully 2oth Century Fox officially released X-Men Origins: Wolverine's trailer online today so I wouldn’t have to subject myself to sitting through The Day the Earth Stood Still. You can check the new trailer out at the movie’s official MySpace page or watch it here at The Blot Says… below:

To be honest, I had some reservations about how this movie would turn out. After hearing about all of the characters and different storylines they were going to include, it sounded like director Gavin Hood and star Hugh Jackman were trying to do too much. But after seeing this trailer all my reservations are gone. X-Men Origins: Wolverine looks freaking awesome.

X-Men Origins: Wolverine debuts on May 1, 2009.

Muttpop - Emperor of the Golden Throne El Panda Custom Figure by Frank Kozik

Muttpop – Emperor of the Golden Throne El Panda Custom Vinyl Figure by Frank Kozik and Its PackagingKozik has been teasing this release online for a while now, but his limited edition hand painted glow in the dark Emperor of the Golden Throne El Panda custom vinyl figure has finally hit the market. Only 66 of these hand painted figures were created and the 10 Kozik had on sale at VTN last week sold out instantly. The Blot had been hoping to get one of these bad boys to pair with the other Lucha Libre figure in my collection, the Dr. Destruction Wild Edition, but the $125 price tag just about ended those plans.

Muttpop - Emperor of the Golden Throne El Panda Custom Vinyl Figure by Frank Kozik
The remaining 56 figures are now in Muttpop’s possession and they will be releasing them in early 2009. (link) No word yet on whether these will be sold on their official online store or through retailers worldwide. When more information becomes available I will definitely pass it along!

Transformers Mighty Muggs Wave 2 - Grimlock and Starscream

When it rains it really does pour! All of a sudden there is news popping up everywhere concerning Hasbro’s Mighty Muggs toy line. The latest news is that Transformers Mighty Muggs Wave 2 has been confirmed and will hit stores sometime during March 2009. Wave 2 will consist of fan favorites Grimlock and Starscream, along with previously released figures Optimus Prime and Bumblebee. Boy did The Blot call this one way back when. If you don’t believe me check out this long forgotten post. While a photo of the Decepticon’s second-in-command has yet to surface, The Blot did find this great picture of the Dinobot leader…and make sure to check back with The Blot Says… for the latest in Mighty Muggs news!

You can purchase the four figure set, which is expected to hit store shelves sometime during February 2009, for $49.99. G.I. G.I. Joe Mighty Muggs Wave 2 In Package Photos

Here is my final post of the week in reaction to Hasbro still not releasing any new news on their many lines of Mighty Muggs collectible vinyl figures. The Blot is excited to bring to you today all new photos of the official packaging for the as yet to be scheduled for release G.I. Joe Mighty Muggs Wave 2. G.I. Joe Mighty Muggs Wave 2 - Destro Mighty Mugg in Package Wave 2 will consist of Destro and the Baroness, and I’m still more than a little peeved that Destro’s head isn’t metallic. It’s such a big part of the character’s unique look and I just don’t understand why Hasbro skimped when it came to this very important detail. Regardless, no G.I. Joe collection would be complete with these two evil love birds, so you know The Blot will be snatching both figures up as soon as possible. G.I. Joe Mighty Muggs Wave 2 - Baroness Mighty Mugg in Package I’ll be sure to post about G.I. Joe Mighty Muggs Wave 2 again as soon as a release date is set.

The Roots Officially Join Jimmy Fallon as Late Night’s New House Band

Jimmy Fallon - The New Host of NBC's Late NightThe rumors prove true once again. After months of speculation, it was officially announced on Monday that the legendary Roots crew would be giving up their touring lifestyle to join Jimmy Fallon on the set of Late Night on NBC. The unbelievable really has become reality. Fallon revealed “in the first installment of his nightly video blog on www.latenightwithjimmyfallon.com ... that critically acclaimed Grammy winning hip-hop band The Roots will become Fallon’s house band when Late Night makes its broadcast debut.” (link)

The Roots
The Blot is a huge fan of The Roots and I’ve been lucky enough to see them play live multiple times. I’m interested in seeing just what impact this will have on their careers. On the one hand it will definitely give them more exposure to the general public than ever before, but one would think filming a television show 5 days a week/52 weeks a year would put a stop to their constant touring and possibly an end to their recording careers. But, The Roots obviously see this as a huge opportunity.

The Roots - ?uestlove and Black ThoughtWhen asked about this exciting news Roots founder Ahmir “?uestlove” Thompson said “we are really excited to be working with Jimmy on the new Late Night. It’s also an honor to be working with an icon like Lorne Michaels. We are looking forward to becoming part of the history of 30 Rock.” (link) I’m really excited for Fallon’s debut on March 2, 2009 and can’t wait to see how this all plays out. It’s either going to be really awesome or a complete disaster, but I don’t see it falling somewhere in the middle.
