If you’re thinking, wait I thought Star Wars: The Clone Wars cartoon was an upcoming animated television series and not an animated movie, you’d be half right. As it turns out the folks at Lucasfilm Animation have decided to launch the upcoming animated television series by first releasing a full length movie in theaters on August 15th, which “tells an all-new story that leads directly in to this fall’s premiere of a weekly, animated Star Wars: The Clone Wars television series.” (link) The CG-animated television series will first air on the “Cartoon Network, followed by airings on TNT” (both of which are Turner Networks). The Blot is actually more excited about this upcoming ongoing Star Wars: The Clone Wars series than I am the rumored to be in production live action Star Wars television show. Hopefully this show will be as good as Star Wars: Clone Wars, a series of 20 animated shorts that also aired on the Cartoon Network in 2003, was. Star Wars: The Clone Wars focuses “on the front lines of an intergalactic struggle between good and evil” as “Anakin Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi and Padme Amidala, along with brand-new heroes like Anakin’s padawan learner, Ahsoka,” struggle against “sinister villains - led by Palpatine, Count Dooku and General Grievous,” who “are poised to rule the galaxy.” (link) If you haven’t seen the new Star Wars: The Clone Wars trailer yet, watch the video below because the CG-animation looks really great.
