CBS Finally Renews How I Met Your Mother and Rules of Engagement

After months and months of waiting, CBS finally tells The Blot what he’s been dying to hear…that How I Met Your Mother is being renewed for another season! Not only is HIMYM being renewed, but CBS is also renewing all of their other Monday night comedies, including previous bubble shows The New Adventures of Old Christine and Rules of Engagement.

How I Met Your Mother
Rules of EngagementThis announcement, while strange, is great news for fans of Old Christine and Rules of Engagement. It’s strange because for the third straight year CBS now has five comedies for four spots in its Monday night comedy lineup. No word on if one of the shows will be brought in as a midseason replacement or if an additional night of comedies will be started. There are rumors “that CBS is considering using the Julia Louis-Dreyfus starrer Old Christine to open a second comedy block on Wednesday” to pair with “another female-oriented comedy, Worst Week, about an engaged couple,” which the network picked up on Monday. The New Adventures of Old Christine“According to sources, ABC was ready to announce a 22-episode pickup of Christine if CBS opted for a cancellation or a shorter order,” to pair the comedy with Scrubs, another established comedy ABC pilfered away from NBC yesterday.
