NBC Announces Show Renewals and Return Dates for Several Shows

NBC/Universal logoNBC announced this week the renewal of three critically acclaimed shows, Chuck, Life and Heroes, for the 2008-2009 season. As for the remainder of this season, many NBC mainstays will be returning with all new episodes in April. (link) News as to new whether this will be the final season for longtime running medical show ER has yet to be determined. NBC is contractually obligated to Warner Bros. to produce new episodes of the show for the remainder of this season, which would allow for the filming of a series finale for the 14 year old drama. (link) But, NBC is open to airing one final season next year if a deal can be worked out that is financially rewarding for all parties involved. (link) As previously reported, there is still no word as to whether NBC will sign off on new episodes of its other long time running medical show, Scrubs. NBC is hoping 5 additional episodes of 30 Rock can be filmed for this season, but it depends “on the availability of the [show’s] star Alec Baldwin, who is scheduled to start work on a movie.” (link)
