The 2008 inductees into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame were announced today. (link) The class is headlined by the material girl herself, Madonna, and the one and only cougar, John Mellencamp. The group is rounded out by The Ventures, Leonard Cohen and The Dave Clark Five.

(link) Another popular musical group, the Beastie Boys, were also on the ballot for the first time but did not garner enough votes to be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame located in Cleveland, Ohio.As a huge fan of John "Cougar" Mellencamp I'm glad to see he's finally being inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. What The Blot still can't figure out is what does and what does not count as "rock and roll." I'm pretty sure the Beastie Boys have been more rap than rock since they hung up their instruments early on and decided to become rappers. But then again Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five were inducted last year, so who knows where the line is. I just get the feeling this "Rock and Roll" Hall of Fame is turning more into a Music Hall of Fame with every new class of inductees.
