The super talented Healeymade’s very first vinyl figure goes on sale tomorrow and it is a beauty!!! Quackula stands a whopping 17cm (approximately 6.7”), was sculpted by Naoya Ikeda and manufactured in Japan by Gargamel. For its first colorway (the first of many The Blot hopes) Healeymade went with the killer unpainted black Quackula. FYI - I just added the blank white prototype pictures above so you could see more of the figure's great sculpt. Cast in soft Japanese vinyl, these Unpainted Black Quackula vinyl figures will retail for just $50. Pick one up from the Healeymade online store tomorrow, Thursday, May 1st, at 8pm EDT. But act fast, because you know these bad boys are going to sell out quickly!

Escape from New York Screen Print by Gabz
Here’s the full reveal of Grey Matter Art’s upcoming release “Escape from New York” screen print by Gabz (aka Grzegorz Domaradzki)! As The Blot mentioned last week, this is the first official screen print for the John Carpenter classic released way back in 1981 and starring Kurt Russell as hero Snake Plissken. It’s hard to imagine this is the first licensed Escape from New York art poster since the film was released almost 35 years ago, but boy was it worth the wait! This movie poster is just plain awesome. I love how Gabz was able to recreate the post-apocalyptic vibe of the film with his design.
“Escape from New York” by Gabz is a 24”x36” 6 color hand numbered screen print, and will go on sale at a random time (between 1-2pm EST) tomorrow, Wednesday, April 30th, at the Grey Matter Art online store. The Standard Edition print entitled “Call me Snake” has a limited edition run size of 325 pieces and will retail for $50, while the Variant entitled “The name’s Plissken!” has a limited edition run size of 175 pieces and will retail for $75 each.

Previews Exclusive Deathstroke Pop! DC Comics Vinyl Figure by Funko
One of the most popular villains of the DC Comics universe is finally getting the Pop! treatment by our good friends at Funko! The archenemy of the New Teen Titans and current foil to TV's Arrow, Deathstroke the Terminator can now battle your entire toy collection as a cute, blocky Pop! vinyl figure. Released in two different colorways (Standard Edition and Metallic Variant), the Deathstroke Pop! vinyl figure is a Previews Exclusive meaning it can only be purchased through comic book and specialty stores that order from Previews. The Blot’s pretty excited about this release, I just wish he wasn’t wearing his costume from DC’s “New 52” reboot. Deathstroke looked so much cooler back in the day!
The Previews Exclusive Deathstroke DC Comics Pop! vinyl figure stands 3.75” tall, features one point of articulation, multicolored eyes and a sword, and comes packaged in a full color window box. While this figure is not expected to ship until July 2012, you can pre-order both versions now from Entertainment Earth for $11.99 each here.
Agents of SHIELD: The Art of Level 7 Print #4 - “Nothing Personal” by Stephanie Hans
Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD: The Art of Level 7 is a new print series from Marvel and ABC, which celebrates the explosive final six episodes of the show’s inaugural season! For 6 straight weeks Marvel will be releasing a new print by a different comic book artist that corresponds to that week’s episode of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. These 6 television posters will be limited to just 100 pieces, and offer fans clues to the future of everyone’s favorite SHIELD Agents.
The fourth Agents of SHIELD print is “Nothing Personal” by Stephanie Hans. This design features Agent Grant Ward, Skye and Deathlok! The Blot won’t say much about this powerful piece as any conjecture on my part will be full of all kinds of spoilers. This 16”x24” print comes individually numbered and is currently available for purchase at the Marvel online store for $49.95 each.

Justice League Dark “New 52” DC Comics Action Figures - Constantine & Zatanna
One of the The Blot’s favorite parts of DC Comics’ soft “New 52” reboot was the reintroduction of John Constantine into the proper DC Universe. Not only has he left the “mature content” realm of the DC Comics’ imprint Vertigo, but DC gave him two books to headline! One of those books, Justice League Dark, also stars one of The Blot’s favorite characters, the mistress of magic Zatanna! For the past two decades Zatanna toiled in obscurity on the fringe of the DC Universe, but in the “New 52” reboot she thrust back into the spotlight once again. And nothing shows that more than with the release of these awesome Justice League Dark action figures of Constantine and Zatanna! Hopefully this is just the start of a new line of JLD action figures from DC Collectibles!
Each action figure in the DC Comics Justice League Dark New 52 toy line stands approximately 6.6”-6.7” tall, features multiple points of articulation, and will hit store shelves in October 2014. Both figures are currently available for pre-order now from Entertainment Earth for $22.99 each here.
Batman 75th Anniversary Action Figure 4 Pack Set 1 by DC Comics
Batman’s 75th Anniversary is almost here, and DC Collectibles has announced a new line of action figures to celebrate this huge milestone for DC Comics’ Dark Knight! This first set includes four different interpretations of Batman by four iconic artists: “First Appearance” Batman by Bob Kane, “Hush” Batman by Jim Lee, “New Frontier” Batman by Darwyn Cooke and “Batman: Arkham Origins” Batman from the hit video game. Each figure features a unique paint deco only available in this 75th Anniversary box set (in case you were wondering why DC Entertainment would release a box set with four figures previously available individually).
Each action figure in the Batman 75th Anniversary Action Figure 4 Pack Set 1 stands approximately 6.5”-7” tall, features multiple points of articulation, and will hit store shelves in October 2014. This exciting new box set is currently available for pre-order now from Entertainment Earth for $64.99 here.

RhymeSquare Spring ’14 T-Shirt Collection
The awesome UK indie clothing brand RhymeSquare has just had a massive relaunch of their website, and to celebrate they’ve dropped four killer new t-shirts designed by Jon-Paul Kaiser! Each design features the brand’s mascot WhereBear sporting a different look. From thugged out to sci-fi, the RhymeSquare Spring ’14 t-shirt collection has a little something for everyone. While the “CamoBear” crossbones design is really nice, The Blot’s favorite new design is the “Bear’N’Bun” tee. What can I say, I love me some hamburgers!
Each RhymeSquare t-shirt is limited edition and include a signed and individually numbered swing ticket. They are available in guys and girls styles sizes S-XXL and can be purchased from the RhymeSquare online store for £25 each.
“Reaper” T-Shirts by Vannen
Vannen has taken the quality, design and craftsmanship you love about their watches and applied it to a new line of limited edition affordable t-shirts! If you’re tired of spending tons of money on limited edition shirts that fall apart after one wash Vannen has the tees for you! From here on out Vannen will be producing limited edition apparel at an affordable price.
Their first release is this super soft, limited edition “Vannen Reaper” t-shirt! Each shirt is printed on black American Apparel tees and comes in a variety of logo colors (white, black, maroon and teal). Johnny Cupcakes Versus Series 2 Big Kid T-Shirts: Spider-Man vs Venom
You’ve seen “East Versus West”, now witness “Good Versus Evil.” Earlier today Johnny Cupcakes released its second “Versus Series” collection inspired by Marvel’s sensational Spider-Man! This online exclusive, pre-order only collection pits “Arachnid” Big Kid vs. “Symbiote” Big Kid in a battle for global supremacy. What a perfect release just in time for the debut of Amazing Spider-Man 2 in theaters everywhere next week. The Blot always loves cosplay Big Kid designs, and what’s better than tees featuring Big Kid as comic book heavyweights Spider-Man and Venom!?!
Both “Good Versus Evil” Versus Series t-shirts are currently available for pre-order at the Johnny Cupcakes online store for a limited time. Both shirts are available in guys and girls styles sizes S-XXL and retail for just $35 each. “Arachnid” Spider-Man Big Kid comes on a sweet heather grey tee, while “Symbiote” Venom Big Kid of course comes on an all black shirt.

Book Review: The Art of Ian Miller
The Blot has to be honest, I wasn’t familiar with artist Ian Miller’s work before getting my hands on this beautiful oversized hardcover art book The Art of Ian Miller. But wow, was I blown away by just the book’s cover alone! Ian Miller is a fantasy illustrator and writer best known for his quirkily etched gothic style and macabre sensibility, noted for his book and magazine covers and interior illustrations, including SF fiction covers, a host of illustrations for the Realm of Chaos supplement and the first edition of Warhammer 40,000.
What’s really wonderful about The Art of Ian Miller is that the artist himself walks you through the book sharing the history of each piece and his mindset behind its creation. I especially enjoyed reading about his use of circles and what that shape can bring to an image. Miller’s line work is seriously incredible, and I love his use of black to convey emotion. My favorite section in the book is definitely his incredible dragons! You can see Tolkien’s heavy influence in those drawings especially, and his name pops up in multiple places in the book.
While a lot of Ian Miller’s artwork in the book is black and white, when you hit a colored page in this full color book it really pops! I didn’t expect such a big impact from his subtle use of watercolor washes. Thankfully the color doesn’t take away from his impeccably detailed artwork. I can’t get over his use of lines and how crazy each page of this book is. You’ve gotta see it to believe it!
Produced by Titan Books, The Art of Ian Miller features 160 pages and over 300 pieces of artwork spanning decades of Ian's career. This collection is a treat for all lovers of great fantasy art, and includes everything from Lovecraft novel covers to Tolkien bestiaries to Warhammer 40,000 concept art, through a veritable trove of gothic humour, fantasy battles, dragons, beasts and a world of nightmarish visions.
The Art of Ian Miller hardcover book measures 12.4”x9.3” and is currently in book stores everywhere! This beautiful oversized coffee table art book has a suggested retail price of $34.95, but you can order it from Amazon for just $25.79 here.
“Harlequinade” Batman: The Animated Series Screen Print by Phantom City Creative
After unexpectedly having to pull their Prometheus poster yesterday, Mondo released the unannounced “Harlequinade” screen print by Phantom City Creative! This beautiful print features DC Comics’ Harley Quinn and pays homage to the classic Batman: The Animated Series episode. Harlequinade is the 7th episode of the 2nd season of B:TAS and originally aired way back in 1994. The Blot especially loves that Phantom City Creative paid tribute to the creators of this episode, producer Bruce Timm, writer Paul Dini and director Kevin Altieri. 2014 is looking to be a huge year for Batman: The Animated Series with DC making it a focal point of their Batman 75th Anniversary celebration.
“Harlequinade” by Phantom City Creative is an 18″x24″ Batman: The Animated Series screen print. The Standard Edition is limited to just 375 pieces and retailed for $45, while the Variant is limited to just 200 pieces and retailed for $65.

Snoop Dogg 7” Vinyl Figure by Kidrobot
Sigh, when The Blot was 14 years old I would have loved Kidrobot’s new 7” Snoop Doggy Dogg vinyl figure. Back in 1993 The Doggfather was one of the music industry’s hottest artists and he dominated pop culture. I consumed every album, mixtape and cameo Snoop released. But nowadays Snoop Lion is but a mere caricature of his former self, and this vinyl figure is disappointing in so many ways.
Where is the artistry and design in this toy? KR could have done so much with this release, but instead we get a ‘bot reimagined as Snoop. The head sculpt is pretty nice though! But what is up with those terrible looking arms and hands!?! I expect so much more from Kidrobot. What’s even more depressing is a second wave of Snoop Dogg x Kidrobot vinyl figures will evidently be released later this month. Another missed opportunity from the former leaders of hip-hop and designer art toys.

Coming Soon: Da’ Lizard Vinyl Figure by Mark Bode
Last January The Blot got to see Mark Bode’s amazing Da’ Lizard resin figure in person at the legendary artist’s solo show “The Masked Lizard Rides Again” at Aerosol Warfare here in Houston, Texas. This 6-8” tall unpainted resin figure was limited to just 50 pieces, featured 3 points of articulation and looked seriously fantastic! Unfortunately, one of these figures didn’t go home with me that night. But I did learn some good news that evening, Bode was working on a vinyl release of his Da’ Lizard sculpt!
The Da’ Lizard vinyl figure is almost here and Bode unveiled his first painted prototype and the figure’s packaging artwork. What really stands out from the pictures Mark posted on his Instagram account is that Da’ Lizard is being made by MINDstyle! I didn’t even know they were still in business. There are four colroways in the works (OG Lizard Green, White, Magenta and Brown), and at least one of those will be released by Toy Tokyo. Can’t wait to snag one of these! Star Wars Black Series Wave 3 6” Action Figures
The Blot’s been waiting a long time to blog about Hasbro’s third wave of Star Wars Black 6” action figures. To be honest, I was beyond disappointed that after just two waves and 8 figures Hasbro was already re-releasing figures. Is the Star Wars universe so devoid of popular characters that they couldn’t come up with a full wave of four figures? You and I both know that isn’t true! Not really a good sign for this relatively new toy line.
Star Wars Black Series Wave 3 includes “A New Hope” Han Solo, Bespin Fatigues Luke Skywalker, “Revenge of the Sith” Obi-Wan Kenobi and an old school Stormtrooper. Star Wars Black Series Wave 3 is in stores now everywhere, and you can purchase a full set of Wave 3 figures wave from Entertainment Earth for $79.99 here.

Coraline Screen Print by Tom Whalen
The Blot loves me some Coraline! I bought the book when it first came out back in 2002 based on author’s Neil Gaiman’s name alone. But while the book is good, the LAIKA movie is great! I’m such a sucker for stop-motion animation and LAIKA did an incredible job translating the book to film. To commemorate Mondo’s release of the film’s soundtrack on vinyl today, Mondo is also releasing this new Coraline screen print by Tom Whalen. Boy are those freaking button eyes still creepy!
Coraline by Tom Whalen is an 18”x24” hand numbered screen print. Limited to 275 pieces, these movie posters will go on sale at the Mondo online store at a random time today, Tuesday, April 22nd, for $45 each.

Each limited edition t-shirt will be available at all four tour stops, with each company also having a small allotment to sell themselves. The Blot would also expect a few of these tees to show up on the official Ghostbusters 30th Anniversary Traveling Art Show online store. I ain’t afraid of no ghosts!

REVIEW: “The Winter Soldier” Captain America 9FIFTY Snapback Hat by New Era
Today is the last day to enter our Captain America: The Winter Soldier New Era Hat Giveaway, which you can still enter here! To celebrate the end of our latest contest, I thought I’d do a quick review of one of the hats from New Era’s new Captain America 2 Movie Collection. The Blot really loves this “The Winter Soldier” 9FIFTY snapback hat! This black, red and grey hat pays tribute to The Winter Soldier, one of the best “new” characters Marvel has introduced in over a decade. I don’t want to give away too much from the movie or the comics, but The Winter Soldier plays a huge role in both (and probably will for years to come).
The simple design of the “The Winter Soldier” 9FIFTY Captain America snapback is really striking. Not only does the black and grey hat with red accents color scheme look sharp, but it accurately matches The Winter Soldier’s costume. It was such a great decision by New Era to use shiny, reflective material for The Winter Soldier’s red star logo on the front because it really pops off the black fabric of the hat. And I like that they use that same red shiny material for the bottom of the brim of the hat, especially since it’s hidden from most people’s view of the snapback. It’s hidden little touches like that, which make New Era hats the best!
My only slight complaint is nowhere on the hat does it say Captain America or The Winter Soldier. Personally I’d like it to outwardly tie-in to the movie with a little text on the back, but I’m sure for some that’s probably a positive. In some ways it extends your wear of the hat since without the film’s title it can easily pass for a non-comic book or movie hat for years to go. It is definitely a Captain America: The Winter Soldier hat though, as the tag inside features the film’s logo.
“The Winter Soldier” Captain America: The Winter Soldier 9FIFTY Snapback Hat by New Era should be hitting stores everywhere soon. It doesn’t look like it’s currently available at the New Era online store, but I would imagine it will be showing up there soon.
