Scrubs 2.0 Promo Poster - Season 9 Premieres Tuesday, Dec 1st on ABC

The Blot’s been pretty mum on Scrubs Season 9 for a couple of reasons, but mainly because I have no idea how to feel about it. While it’s great ABC renewed the show for a ninth season, Scrubs returns with a brand new look and pretty much a brand new cast. With John C. McGinley’s Dr. Cox and Donald Faison’s Dr. Turk as the only remaining central characters from the show’s stellar zany cast, the focus of the show shifts to three new medical students attending Winston University and interning at Sacred Heart.

Scrubs Season 9 Television Promo Poster
While Zach Braff’s J.D. will still appear in a handful of episodes, the show will now be narrated by Kerry Bishe’s Lucy Bennett, a new medical student at Winston University, which is a pretty significant change if I do say so myself. I am relieved to hear Sarah Chalke’s Dr. Elliot Reid, Sam Lloyd’s Ted Buckland and Robert Maschino’s The Todd will be appearing sporadically throughout Scrubs’ ninth season, but I’m worried the show won’t have the same rhythm and feel it once did, especially with Scrubs creator and show runner Bill Lawrence focusing much of his attention on his new ABC comedy, Cougar Town.

Scrubs Season 9 New Cast Members - David Franco as Med Student Cole Aaronson, Kerry Bishe as Med Student Lucy Bennett & Michael Mosley as Med Student Drew Suffin
I will say, even with all my reservations I am still elated to have Scrubs returning for another season. While I’d prefer to watch the Janitor roaming the halls of Sacred Heart, I’ll take Scrubs 2.0 any day over the alternative (i.e. a Scrubs-less world). Joining Scrubs as series regulars this season is previously recurring cast member Eliza Coupe (former intern turned student advisor Denise Mahoney aka Jo), and newcomers Michael Mosley and Dave Franco as new medical students.

Scrubs Season 9 premieres on ABC tomorrow night, Tuesday, December 1st, at 8/9c.

Lost Screen Print #15 - The Polar Bear by Jay Ryan

The Polar Bear” by Jay Ryan is the 15th screen print in the Lost Alternate Reality Game series released in honor of Lost: The Final Season. While this particular “water cooler moment” is not as significant to The Blot as other Lost reveals previously immortalized as screen prints, this print is sure to be crazy hard to find on the secondary market because of the artist behind it. Ryan has a large and devoted fan following, and “The Polar Bear” does a great job showcasing his unique style.

Damon, Carlton and A Polar Bear Limited Edition Lost Screen Prints - The Polar Bear by Jay Ryan
I’m interested in finding out if anyone else has tried to purchase these Lost alternate reality game screen prints, and if so which ones have you been lucky enough to purchase?

Jay Ryan’s limited edition Lost screen print “The Polar Bear” measures 18”x24”, is printed on brown paper, has a run size of 300 pieces and comes hand signed and numbered by the artist. The print could have been purchased here for $50, but like all of the other screen prints released in this series it sold out in under 2 minutes.

In celebration of LOST's final season and as a project of fan appreciation, 16 top designers and artists, who are also fans of the show, were commissioned to create artwork celebrating one of the series' most memorable, and unforgettable, "water cooler" moments. This ultimate "fan art" was then turned into labor intensive, hand-pulled screen prints, limited to an edition of just 300, with less than 200 available to the public through our websites. Each beautiful poster tells its own different story, allowing the fan to relive memorable and influential moments in an artistic manner, as the show's storied run comes to a close. Once this limited edition print has sold out, they will never be printed again. Celebrate the fandom, community and family created by one of televisions' greatest shows by hanging a little part of its history, inspiration and influence on your wall. (link)

Johnny Cupcakes x Ghostbusters “Crossbone Buster” T-Shirt

This Ghostbusters themed t-shirt by Johnny Cupcakes has actually been out for a while, but thankfully it’s not sold out yet so The Blot can still talk about it. In honor of JC’s screening of the 1984 classic Ghostbusters at the Coolidge Corner Theater on Monday, October 12th, the clothing company has released the Johnny Cupcakes x Ghostbusters tee entitled “Crossbone Buster.” I love Johnny Cupcakes’ Cupcake and Crossbones logo, so combining it with the Ghostbusters logo seems like a no brainer!

You can also purchase a limited edition promotional poster for the Johnny Cupcakes Presents Ghostbusters screening. The Johnny Cupcakes x Ghostbusters promo poster is limited to just 100 pieces and each poster comes hand numbered.

COMING SOON - Kidrobot 18: Kidmutant by Frank Kozik

Last week Kidrobot posted a video on the KRonikle, the company’s online magazine, which debuted two as of yet unannounced vinyl figures. The second unveiling was of Kidrobot 18: Kidmutant by Frank Kozik.

Not only does this crazy looking Kidrobot mascot vinyl figure have tentacles for arms, but it also comes with a matching mini-mutant Labbit accessory. The Blot’s got a feeling this Kidmutant/mini-mutant Labbit combo is going to have Kozik fans rushing out to purchase this alien looking Kidrobot mascot.

Last week Kidrobot posted a video on the KRonikle, the company’s online magazine, which debuted two as of yet unannounced vinyl figures. Jamungo BUD Series 3 Red Demon Chase Figure by Muttpop

The Blot’s been itching to find out which of Muttpop’s Lucha Libre characters would be getting the Blow Up Doll treatment by Jamungo, and we now know it’ll be Red Demon. I had been wondering for a while if we’d ever see a 2nd Muttpop character re-interprited in BUD form after 2007’s Tequila chase BUD from BUD Series 2. Now that the annoucement is official, I'm on the hunt to add one to my collection!

Jamungo Blow Up Doll Series 3 Red Demon Chase BUD by Muttpop
According to Muttpop Bob, “based on the stat card included with every BUD Series 3 figure, you have a 2.3% chance of pulling one of the [Red Demon Muttpop] figures out of a BUD 3 Blind Box. So, out of a 1000 Series 3 Blind Boxes, there are only 23 Muttpop Chase figures. Nice! I feel special and very rare.”

Jamungo’s BUDs Series III blind boxes will retail for around $10 each and will be in stores shortly.

Lost Screen Print #14 - Ben Linus by Todd Slater

Ben Linus” by Todd Slater is the fourteenth screen print in the Lost Alternate Reality Game series released in honor of Lost: The Final Season. This poster has huge significance to The Blot because it features one of my favorite characters, Benjamin Linus! No other character has taken the show by storm quite like Michael Emerson’s Ben. From the moment he appeared on screen you knew there was more to The Others’ “Henry Gale,” but even I could not have imagined where Linus’ story would take him and the show. And you can’t have a screen print featuring Ben without his pet #8 white rabbit.

Damon, Carlton and A Polar Bear Limited Edition Lost Screen Prints - Ben Linus by Todd Slater
Slater is an amazing artist with a strong fan following, so The Blot has a feeling this print will be highly sought after by Lost fans and Slater fans alike. “Ben Linus” is the 14th screen print released on Damon, Carlton and A Polar Bear in honor of Lost’s sixth and final season. Todd Slater’s limited edition Lost screen print “Ben Linus” measures 18”x24”, has a run size of 300 pieces and comes hand signed and numbered by the artist. The print could have been purchased here for $50, but like all of the other recent Lost screen print releases it sold out in mere minutes.

T.W.O.C. the Elf 2009 Holiday Dunny Chase by TADO

The 2009 Holiday Dunny, Krunk-a-Claus by TADO, is finally here. From what The Blot’s heard, a lot of stores didn’t receive their shipment of Krunk-a-Claus 3" Dunnys last week because of Veteran’s Day. But thankfully TADO’s Holiday Dunny is now in stock at most stores, and we now know what its 1 in 10 chase, the evil T.W.O.C. the Elf, looks like!

Kidrobot - T.W.O.C. the Elf 2009 3 Inch Holiday Dunny Chase by TADO
No word yet on whether or not there is a rarer 3rd chase, but it sounds like T.W.O.C. the Evil Elf has been pretty easy to find even with its 1:10 ratio. I was surprised to learn that T.W.O.C. (which I can only guess stands for “Taking Without Owner’s Consent”) has elfin ears instead of classic Dunny ears like almost every other production Dunny released to date. The Dunny’s ears personify its signature look, and I was shocked to find out Kidrobot replaced them on its 2009 Holiday Dunny chase.

T.W.O.C. comes with a crowbar and hat, and retails for $9.95 each. You can purchase the 2009 3 Inch Holiday Dunny by TADO here.

Threadless - “We’ve Got Some Work To Do Now” Scooby-Doo Themed Zombie T-Shirt

This was not the original post scheduled for this afternoon, but when The Blot saw Threadless had released this Scooby-Doo themed t-shirt yesterday I knew I had to blog about it ASAP! “We’ve Got Some Work To Do Now” is pure awesome! It takes place in a post-apocalyptic world over run by zombies and features the sole survivors of Mystery, Inc., Velma and Scooby, as they prepare to battle the undead.

We've Got Some Work To Do Now T-Shirt by Travis Pitts

Threadless - We've Got Some Work To Do Now Scooby-Doo and Zombie Themed T-Shirt by Travis Pitts
Is “We’ve Got Some Work To Do Now” the ultimate pop culture t-shirt or what!?! It has everything…Scooby-Doo, Zombies, and the Mystery Machine outfitted to battle all forms of the undead. Plus, this has to the most kick-ass version of Velma Dinkley ever created! It’s just too bad Fred, Daphne and Shaggy didn’t live long enough to see this shirt printed. I’ve got a feeling this shirt won’t last long on Threadless, so if you want one buy it now!

You can purchase the “We’ve Got Some Work To Do Now” t-shirt at Threadless.com for $18 each in guys and girls styles, sizes S-3XL.

Lift Exclusive Doktor A Mad’l Official Reveal

There hasn’t been a production Mad’l released in a while, so The Blot has been really excited for the new Lift Exclusive Mad’l designed by Doktor A and entitled Jeeves & Jeeves Co. Autonomous Self Winding Domestic 5” Mad’l. This past weekend Lift officially unveiled the figure at its Dok A exhibition “Freak Mechanique,” and it looks awesome.

Lift Exclusive Jeeves & Jeeves Co. Autonomous Self Winding Domestic 5 Inch Mad'l Vinyl Figure by Doktor A
The Jeeves & Jeeves Co. Autonomous Self Winding Domestic Mad’l comes dressed in formal attire, and doesn't it look dashing in its black and grey tuxedo? I especially adore the figure’s head, which includes Doktor A’s signature meters he has placed on the back of the Mad’l’s ears. The Lift Exclusive Doktor A Mad’l is limited to just 300 pieces and will go on sale in the next two weeks. The price of this designer vinyl figure is currently unknown, but I would guess it’ll retail between $25-40.

Lost Screen Print #13 - The Barracks by Nate Duval

The Barracks” by Nate Duval is the thirteenth screen print in the Lost Alternate Reality Game series released in honor of Lost: The Final Season. With only three prints left, the reveal of “The Barracks” was a little anticlimactic. While the reveal of the Others’ barracks was definitely a “water cooler moment,” I think a lot of Lost fans felt it was nowhere near as exciting or dramatic as other key moments from the show’s past five seasons. Regardless, “The Barracks” is a beautiful print and really shows off Duval’s amazing talent.

BUDs Blind Box Series III by Jamungo

Ever since Jamungo released the artist line-up for its BUDs Series 3 blind box series, The Blot’s been anxiously awaiting a look at the series’ designs. Thankfully, this is one blind box series that has lived up to the hype! While we still don’t know which Muttpop character will show up in BUD form as the series’ mystery chase, I love Jamungo’s decision to include its Sqadt and CrappyCat characteras in the series. No word on the set’s ratios yet, but here’s hoping none of the designs are too terribly hard to get!

Alice In Wonderland One Sheet Movie Posters

The Blot is pretty sure Disney’s upcoming live action adaptation of Alice In Wonderland is going to be sick. Everything about the film is so trippy and abstract just the way Tim Burton likes it. The trailer was great and these new one sheet movie posters are equally as good. Just looking at them is giving me a headache (but in a good way).

Alice In Wonderland Theatrical One Sheet Movie Poster
I seriously don’t know where Burton comes up with his ideas, but his vision is definitely unlike any others’. I seriously can’t wait to see this movie, but what’s really bad is we still have three and a half more months to wait before Alice In Wonderland hits theaters. Shouldn’t this have been Disney’s big holiday release!?! I know kids and adults alike will be lining on March 5, 2010 to journey down the rabbit hole in amazing Disney 3D.

Pearl Jam Concert Posters by Tom Tomorrow

I know I've touched upon this before, but the cover of Pearl Jam’s latest album, Backspacer, was designed by Tom Tomorrow (a.k.a. editorial cartoonist Dan Perkins), who is best known for his liberal slanted weekly comic strip This Modern World. Needless to say, The Blot was really excited to find out Tom had also designed a concert poster for the band’s August 24, 2009 show at the United Center in Chicago, IL. As far as I am aware, this is the first time an artist has designed the artwork for a Pearl Jam album and a concert poster for that album’s corresponding tour. I love Tomorrow’s art style, and may or may not now be the proud owner of a signed and numbered AP print of the poster below.

Pearl Jam - August 24, 2009 - United Center - Chicago, IL Concert Poster by Tom Tomorrow
While I love Tom’s ode to Chicago, the real reason I’m writing this post is because of the amazing Halloween themed concert poster set he designed for Pearl Jam’s four night stay at Philadelphia’s The Spectrum. If you haven’t heard already, The Spectrum closed for good after Pearl Jam’s final show there on Halloween 2009. Pearl Jam played four shows at The Spectrum, October 27th, 28th, 30th and 31st, and played almost every song the band has ever recorded. To go along with Pearl Jam’s four shows in Philly, Tomorrow designed four posters (1 for each night) that could stand alone individually or, when placed next to each other, form one giant retro pop culture costume party themed image.

Pearl Jam - October 27, 2009 - The Spectrum - Philadelphia, PA Concert Poster by Tom Tomorrow
Pearl Jam - October 28, 2009 - The Spectrum - Philadelphia, PA Concert Poster by Tom Tomorrow
According to Tomorrow, “since these were for a series of shows the week of Halloween, my idea was to have a giant retro pop-culture costume-party theme - superheroes, robots, space people, monsters, etc., along with a number of band-related/requested ‘cameos’ in the background, all (at least in my mind’s eye) comprising the audience to the last shows at the Spectrum.”

Pearl Jam - October 30, 2009 - The Spectrum - Philadelphia, PA Concert Poster by Tom Tomorrow
Pearl Jam - October 31, 2009 - The Spectrum - Philadelphia, PA Concert Poster by Tom Tomorrow
If you are interested in purchasing these awesome Halloween inspired Pearl Jam concert posters, Tom Tomorrow will most likely be selling a signed and numbered edition of these sometime early next year, around February or so. They’ll be available as complete sets of four only, and an exact price has not yet been set. If you’re interested in a set, Tom’s compiling a waiting list which you can add your name to by sending an email to him at tom(dot)tomorrow (at) gmail (dot) com with “Philly waiting list” in the subject line. Please note, you are not placing an actual order and he is not taking any money at this time. But when he does eventually do the sale, priority will be given to those on the list.

Kick-Ass Character Movie Posters and Trailer

Kick-Ass One Sheet Character Movie Posters Set 1The Blot has a confession…I’ve never read Kick-Ass, the popular creator-owned comic book from Mark Millar and John Romita, Jr. But, I’ve heard it’s good and I’ll probably have to invest in some trades now that the live action movie adaptation directed by Matthew Vaughn and starring Nicolas Cage, Aaron Johnson, Chloe Moretz and Christopher Mintz-Plasse is coming to theaters in a few months.

These one sheet character movie posters look great, and I’m really digging the film’s first trailer that hit the internet a few days ago. I’d go into the comic book/movie’s plot, but I really don’t know much and I think the trailer about sums it up. Check it out and let me know what you think!

Lost Screen Print #12 - Jacob’s Cabin by Daniel Danger

The Blot loved last week’s Lost print “Jacob’s Cabin” by Daniel Danger so much I tried to buy it! But of course it sold out as I was trying to complete the transaction. Danger’s landscape prints are dark and beautiful, and Jacob’s cabin fits his style perfectly. I first learned of Danger when he released a print entitled “Sanctum Sanctorum” for Gallery1988’s “Tribute to Stan Lee” show. As you can tell from the print’s title, it featured Dr. Strange’s Sanctum Sanctorum and looks amazing! You can see Danger’s Marvel Comics inspired print here.

Damon, Carlton and A Polar Bear Limited Edition Lost Screen Prints - Jacob's Cabin by Daniel Danger Close-Up
In celebration of LOST's final season and as a project of fan appreciation, 16 top designers and artists, who are also fans of the show, were commissioned to create artwork celebrating one of the series' most memorable, and unforgettable, "water cooler" moments. (link)
