Is anyone collecting Mattel’s new line of DC Universe 3.75 inch action figures? I’ve actually seen a lot of negative reviews on the new toy line with people's chief complaint being that the figures are too small and come with no accessories. But nevertheless, I really like them. Now I don’t see myself buying them, but I love that Mattel and DC have decided to release such a huge variety of heroes and villains, including some not very well known to mainstream America (i.e. Adam Strange, Black Hand, Hush and Power Girl). Plus, they are basing the figures on the present day DC Universe, which is something toy lines, especially Mattel, have shied away from in the past.
Coming in February 2009 is a DC Universe Infinite Heroes Modern Teen Titans 6 pack of figures entitled Mallah’s Revenge that includes the previously released Raven figure along with 5 all new figures: Cyborg, Robin, Arsenal, The Brain and Monsieur Mallah. I don’t know what I’m more excited about, the modern versions of both Robin and Arsenal getting their own action figures or the classic Doom Patrol and Teen Titan villains the Brotherhood of Evil finally getting some love from Mattel.
Monsieur Mallah and the Brain is one of the best, most bizarre villain partnerships ever created and I was more than a little ticked off when they were killed for the second time in the DC Comics mini-series Salvation Run. Hopefully their inclusion in this toy line means DC has some kind of plan in the works to bring back these classic kooky villains. The modern Teen Titans 6 Pack: Mallah’s Revenge should retail for around $30 and will come out sometime in February, 2009.
